I personally use Beyerdynamic DT770s. They are a bit pronounced on the bass, but they do it right, as opposed to the older Beats.

I did considered in ear monitors. Like the ones from Shure. I was just worried about the sound quality of the bass. Do they portray bass well?I picked up a pair in Afghanistan. The bass is so overpowering my eardrum is ready to blow up after awhile. Once I got in-ear monitors I started practicing with those, much clearer and more balanced sound.

I'm sure the drivers in your computer and the drivers in the headphones are two totally different animals..Wondering if this is the same Beats audio system that my newest laptop came equipped with. If so, it is by far the best sounding and far loudest laptop I've ever owned/heard. Sounds great in the 17" HP
Edit: bought it used, and not to plug my bass into
I use an MXR bass DI+ going into the board and use Sennheiser headphones where we rehearse.Who else has been using IEMs for bass practice? Thanks guys for all the input.
I don't like the Beats stuff (seems I'm not the Lone Ranger here) for music but...
Is there a chance they work well for bass practice? If they have a overly emphasized bass response, wouldn't that make them ideal for practice?
I'm looking into those now thanks!Get some Audio Technica ATH M50x. They are much better than Beats for much less. They come recommended by many as great value headphones for the money.

Seem like good quality headphones for just bass practice...

Yeah, $150-200 is about where I draw the line. The M50's are great for just about everything, balanced while still pleasing to listen to and reasonably priced; unless you're an obsessive audiophile with disposable income, there's no real reason to step up to the $500-$1500 models.
