Bee Bass owners club

I wouldn't say that Fred's irresponsible about getting back in touch, but he definitely wavers in and out of responsivity. There have been days when we've traded emails almost in real time... he replies to one of mine, I reply to his reply, and we have a whole conversation via email in just a few minutes. Other times, it takes him days or weeks to reply.

If you want a Bee, I wouldn't hesitate. Fred's never done anything to make me think that he's not 100% dedicated to making each and every bass exactly the way the customer wants it (he's contacted me for my opinion about stuff that I didn't even realize I had a choice about). However, if you're the kind of person who wants weekly updates or anticipates making a lot of changes to your original design, you may have an issue.

If you want a Bee, I would send Fred an email (or two) and see what he has to say about what you want. If you like what you hear, I'd definitely do it. If you still have reservations or think you need a little more attention, maybe you should look elsewhere.

Hey Cheeto how you doin!
I really feel your pain man, 3 year wait must be awful!
I'm also waiting for a reply from Fred...one can only wait and hope, but its frusturating for sure.

I'm sure the end result will be worth it all though :hyper:

Thanks for the support Athe, i cant wait to feel the bliss and realize just how worth the wait my new 9 string Bee Bass was..... I'm really digging the wood selection ive made, and that "Stinger" body style is wicked sweet!

But anyway, i cant do much more about the build of my bass, im here waiting just like you for my Bee.

Hello hollowman,

You know, i don't need to be taken by the hand.LOL!

When i ordered my first MTD, it took an email and 1 phone call to determine what wood comination was needed to give me the tone i want. Mr.Tobias answered my email in 24 hours and he was also the one who answered the phone when i called. He was so nice that i ordered the bass 30 minutes after i put down the phone. It's been 11 months from now, i never called him or emailed him about it...

I was interested in buying a spector, i emailed spector and received an answer within 3 hours....

I had problems with small builders in the past(twice). In my experience, it normally takes twice the time they said to get what you ordered and sometimes you never get what you ordered....

I just wanna make sure it will be different or easier with bee basses, I really want a 5 string Stinger with a delano MC5 FE and a bee preamp.

I'd like to suggest to Mr. Bolton to advertise is phone hours so he could keep working most of the day... there are some builders who are already saying on their website that they do not answer the phone before 3 P.M......

I sincerly hope i'll comeback to this thread one day to show you my Bee...

I have to agree, yes, Fred isnt the guy who gives you weekly updates. I got an email from him today though, we are trying to figure out shipping, I proposed that he could sent him a gift, but that was quite tricky to do, since the shipping company/customs could anyway make a value for the bass.
So I just told him to send it as a regular valued package and that I wanted the bass before christmas, I've been waiting since April now, pretty tired of the waiting. Heh...

Technically speaking my bass was supposed to be completed by early September, I hope mine is next on the list. :D

Anyone else getting them fancy new Xtender pickups? My Lakland has an oval bridge, my Bee will have an oval pickup. Coincidence?! I have no idea.

i've got one on order with a graphite neck amd i'm hoping to not have the same problem...just like a wooden neck, there are things that happen to graphite necks on occasion beyond anyone's control...brady also prefers his strings to be very nearly lying on the fretboard, so any thing less than an immaculate setup would be unplayable - this is from fred himself, i personally have no idea...i have heard the occasional zon/modulus horror story, so i know the possibility exists...on the other hand, edo castro has the 7 string stinger with a graphite neck and his neck turned out great
