+1 to this. I put model J's in my Geddy Lee jazz and it completely transformed that bass for me (in a good way). I was so impressed that I put a model P in a parts bass I was assembling and it is a beast now.
I know it may not work for some, and I was in doubt because I like metallic clank(so does Geddy, right? lol), of which I thought the QP's would trounce them.
But the whole Dimarzio Model P and J thing is all about them being built for rock.
They are definitely built to take on Les Pauls and Marshall stacks, like an engineer put a preset "rock eq" into them. I also think maybe the harshness of ceramic magnets helps a little there as well.
