Beer!!!!!

Nah, that's what the english say. Half a pint.

From an old TV show called love thy neigbour, now banned because a white dude and black dude lived next door to each other and bagged each other about their skin colour.

Very funny because the slurs were all fun and both ways but with our political climate it's never on anymore.

mmm

This is an aussie beer with the forum rules marking out profanity. I believe the real name for this beer is **it.

And you can write **it on the can now!

Gard...I never noticed you lived in Greensboro...
Please tell me you go to that pub between the baseball field and library...Old Town I think they call it, beside that little hot dog place? One of the best reuben's I've ever had in my life. I ate it with a Red Oak...mmmm, one of my top 10 meals ever...all their food is good...

Or is the place called Natty Greene's? I forget...also, they have some of the best Guinness in the states. THey actually keep it at the proper temp, bartenders are hot and know about beer(females anyway), and they draw a clover leaf in the head. Good stuff.

Louie, yeah, I'm right here in downtown GSO, just a block from the ballpark...

:D

...Old Town it is, our electronics tech here at Roscoe used to be a chef there! Same guys own Natty Greene's, they're close to each other (edit: just chatted with Brian, the aforementioned tech, and now Old Town is owned by the bar manager, the Natty's guys sold it to him. He also commented that the kitchen staff has changed, and the food is hit-or-miss now [new kitchen manager], but the beer and bartenders are still as good as you remembered...the food MAYBE, depending on when you're there.).

As for Red Oak, they also have a restaurant here in town, over by Guilford College, and it's decent, but the beer is indeed the reason to go. My wife and I actually had our rehearsal dinner there! They are apparantly getting ready to start bottling their beers and distributing them, happy day!!! :)

Natty's brews beer, and they even supply it to the ballpark, they also have a fine restaurant, best buffalo burger I've ever tasted. The first two seasons I was here, you could get the pale ale and the amber ale, which are both excellent, but this season they took it up a notch, and added the Old Town Brown ale, my favorite. If I were still single (when I moved here I was, and lived a block from the shop...sigh...), I would have just moved into First Horizon park this past summer....:ninja:

Man, I really love this town....

:D

Flying Saucer's alright...it's impressive but not my cup of tea...best place in america i've been to yet is the Brick Skellar in D.C.

The Brick Skellar has a great selection, but I'm not sure how much rotation they get in there. You need to really move some beer to keep that many beers fresh.

I submit that the best place for beer in America is TORONADO in the lower Haight district of San Francisco. Their choice of taps and bottles is an unbeatable mix of American micros and imports. I'm not impressed by the size of a pubs selection....I'm impressed by their choices.

TORONADO rules all: http://www.toronado.com/

There list changes all the time, but the site lists many of their standards.

Yeah man...my friend went to school there for quite some time, he gave me the scoop on the beer...that Brown's fantastic! I had it about 2 months ago I think...the first time I went to that pub, last year about this time, I had the amber, red oak, and a reuben; great meal!

And yeah, I love Greensboro...its got that...well, "Old Town" feel to it...haven't caught a game there....I did get to play there one summer in a couple tournaments, beautiful field!

Which shop is there? They make basses in Greensboro!!? I love NC...

Only thing I don't like about GB...they opened a GC there earlier this year :scowl:

The Brown > all.

Best beer I've ever tasted.

:)

You should come over for a game next season, great field for viewing as well as playing.

Yeah, we make basses in Greensboro, Keith's been at it in one way or another since about 1971! (Keith as in Roscoe) Check to the right of my user name.

Yeah, there's a GC here, but no one shops there....at least no one with any sense!

;)

I really really hope you don't drink VB. XXXX tastes a million dollars compared to it.

Shiner Bock.

Made in the Spoetzl Brewery in Shiner, TX.

I consider it the national beer of Texas. Mighty good sippin'.

My motto: Life is too short for lite beer!

However, I live in Fort Collins, CO where Fat Tire is made. We have the New Belgium (Fat Tire, Blue Paddle, etc.) and O'Dell's (90 Shilling, 5 barrel pale Ale, etc.) breweries within 1/2 mile of each other. We try to suffer nobly!

I love me some Shiner. Though "national beer of texas" is the slogan for Lone Star Beer (which isn't that great...but it's the best cheap beer around)

St. Arnold (also from Texas) makes some mighty fine brews as well.

Right...but everyone I knew there drank Shiner, not Lone Star. I consider Shiner the REAL national beer of TX.
