Beer!!!!!

I had a Rasputin beer the other day, probably the most bitter and darkest beer I've had so far. It was like Guiness squared and not in the Triple Chocolate Bach kinda way.

Also tried this Frank Zappa beer. It was an anniversary thing for the 20th of the Mothers of Invention 'Freak Out' I believe. Pretty good.

you have to pick the pubs carefully where I come from, too many either have all euro-fizz and a token mass produced beer (just a brown equivalent of lager) or stout (guiness/murphys) that tastes over carbonated and watered down. All usually served too cold.

there are a couple of places where you can get decent beer, such as Ringwood (local too), Abbot, various IPAs, London Pride, Flowers. You can't beat Ringwood 49er. mmm... ale...

I thought there were still a few pubs in the UK that served their traditional "House Ale" or "Real Ale" as it was deemed in the 70's...if not, I'm not going to the UK because that was the reason I wanted to go :(

Thank you for giving me hope. I want to go to a few pubs. Have some real Fish 'N Chips and then get the hades out of there. That place isn't exactly a culinary mecca...

Au contraire! IMO, the food in England is really good. You gotta get out into the pubs. Homecook roasts. Cornish Pasties. All really good stuff. Went to England a little over a year ago, and myself and my wife had some great meals. And my wife is Japanese, she has very high standards. She was pleased. As was I, for I remember the previous time I went - well food was not so good, except the delicious stuff cooked by my family.

Sweet...cheers to you good sir! I have a feeling the indigenous population may not like me though...

I think those are two California beers. Old Rasputin is an Imperial Stout from North Coast Brewing and I know Lagunitas Brewery made a limited edition Zappa beer.

I love...

I don't know what it is about Harp, but the few times I've had it as a beer for the evening, the following day has been shot completely to hell. I only have to have a couple of these and I am hangin' bad! I can put down more than a couple of just about any other brand without next day issues. Something about Harp, though...
