Because the zero fret connects all the strings?
yes, similarly as using a metal nut, or one long string "tree" across all strings. of course, the safest contact is, when you ground all the bridge saddles.

Because the zero fret connects all the strings?
Pretty much spot on! But I will read those books. Of course i don't have any experience, it's my first build! I just want to build the bass I want. If I had wanted a parallel-fret four-stringer, I would have built that instead, but that's not what I want. See?To recap: You do not have a shop in which to work, you have no experience building, you've not read either of the two leading books on the subject, you are quite a while away from starting, and you are starting with a very advanced spec sheet.
Thanks!Good luck.
I would love to have a 11 string bass with a tremelo and midi. Sure I'm gonna build me one, but not as a first build.
Yeah, but I don't need 11 strings to look cool!Ofcause I don't "need" 11 strings, my playing skills aren't that good, but hee, if you have a dream, make sure it's a good one.
I've seen a few vid's on youtube from a 11 string "bee" bass it was I believe, but that looked and sounded awesome.
Is it really? The only difference is the width and number of strings...A tremelo, isn't that much of a big deal eather i hope and think.
Ofcause it's impossible on a 11 string bass, that much I do know.
As I said, I don't have a workshop yet, so it might be a while.Anyway, I hope to see a treath in the near future from yur build, should be interresting.
Then, what are the most typical and common problems?
Finally someone believes in me! But as I said, it'll probably be quite a while until I can start building.
I think it will play (shorter G and C strings) and sound (longer F# and B strings) better. And I like the way it looks. But if you don't need a bass to look cool, than what is the reason you want fanned freds?
You want those because it play's better or sound better ?
For me those would only be for the looks of it.
I can't wait either, but I have to...Sawdust....sawdust....sawdust....sawdust...... Can't wait to see some sawdust, it separates the doing from the talking![]()
^^There's no reason not to believe in you. It's smart to heed warnings but they shouldn't deter you from accomplishing your goals.
I don't have a place to build yet, I'm working on that. So it might be a while before I can actually start building.
Rob17, you certainly have a point. But this is about me, and I'm actually awesome enough to do it this way.
Continuing with my point of view, even after you have built your standard no-better-than-your-Warwick 4-stringer, you still won't have any experience building ERBs or installing a tremolo bridge and MIDI... And don't you think 11 strings is a bit too much anyway?
........And, isn't asking questions on Talkbass doing something constructive towards completion of the bass?
I already read that thread... Why did you want to show it to me?
