Behringer now has a cab with 8 10's for 300 bucks...just wanted to know what you guys have experienced on behringer...i use a behringer head and it sound quite nice, but im looking to upgrade my cab, swr workingman 4x10...i wanted a Hartke 410xl, but a guy i deal with can get me good deals and service with behringer...so tell me what you think-thanks

I don't even want to think about how much that thing weighs. I had the 2x10 combo, and that thing weighed more than a Peavey 4x10TX.
IMO Behringer amps are OK if you spend time tweaking them just right but the cabs are terrible. You spoke about upgrading your cabs and I would consider this a step down from your current set up. If its a 8x10 your after look into buying another 8ohm 4x10 cab and pairing it up with your current one. Checkout the avatar B410 cabs as they get allot of love here and they are only $400 so not much dearer than the behringer

I think your original idea about the Hartke 410Xl is very sound ... try that one pairing it up with yout workingman

I've played through a couple of their combos before one was in 2x10 in my old bands practice room. It had 2 of the 10' aluminum cones (similar to the 8x10) and a 300 watt amp section i was able to get a reasonable enough tone from the amp by running it through the PA but through the speakers it was impossible to get a good sounding tone IMO.
The other was a guy in my church who owns a similar combo but with a 15' cone in stead of two 10s. Its sounded terrible no matter what i did to it. Ive never played their bigger cabs cause nobody sells them where i live
the behringer cabinets are basically copy's of the Harkte TP series if cabinets only made to a tighter budget and so the price is cheaper. I've never liked the aluminum speakers myself, i thought i did cause it looked badass but after playing the behringers combos and some harktes cabinets I started to realize the sound wasn't for me. If you want aluminum buy the harkte XL you where considering and team it up with your SWR then you have the best of both worlds and the Hartke will probably have a higher resale value if you don't like it.
If you are only looking for something thing that looks cool then buy it. but my experience with the behringer speakers in general was not a good one. The 4.5XL on the SWR Cab will sill look good and be easier to transport.

I have a Behringer 410 (paper cones) and I can't wait till my GK neo 212 gets here! The behringer is pretty solid...about 100lbs of solid. B/c of the weight and the bad handle placements, you basically have to do a power squat every time you want to pick it up. Tone wise - its probably one of the reasons why I Don't play my bass more - its just so frustrating to have good gear (gk 1001rbII and a Spector bass) and have it sound like poop b/c of this cab (I was younger and unknowledgeable about bass gear when I picked it up). The highs are way too schrill/brittle and the tweeter is pretty damn noisy. The cab does have Ok mids, I will admit that, but its way too too easy to make the speakers fart out from either 1)playing hard or 2) being down-tuned a little bit. The low end isn't very focused either.

I think its always worth while to take anything anyone says on the net with a pinch of salt. Especially with behringer stuff. Alot of people instantly dont like them because of the shoddy buisness tactics.
Personally, i stay away from the instrument amps and cabs. The PA stuff is pretty decent, as is alot of the studio stuff

Behringer=HORRENDOUS
I tried out an 810 rig at GC in Southfield. Horrible. I want to sue GC for wasting precious floorspace with these crap amps and cabs. I'll not touch them again.
Ok so while there are much better cabs out there, i just don't think you will ever get better for the price that you pay for the behringer (unless your prepared to buy second hand). I played through one this weekend and really enjoyed it. It was at a club i played at and I can say that I would happily gig with this cab again. Allthought one gig isn't quite enough to pass judgment on a peice of equipment.
I found the cab to have a very punchy sound with good low end - i would have liked to have been able to have a separate level for the tweeter as it only has an on off switch - so I just turned it off.
Everyone would love to have the best gear available but unfortunately for most of us that is still a dream! Sure, it's cheap and I imagine it would have some flaws (i didn't have to move it!) and I'm not sure how it would handle being knocked around on the road - but for the price i'm sure i could live with the problems that came with it.

I'd try to get a used eden 410xlt,or even a 210 xlt/xst would be better than the 810 cab,

behringer is loud, cheap, and has a very good low end and top end punch. but behringer cabs lack definition. you'll cave somebody's chest in, but it won't have much note clarity.
so it depends on what you're looking for. if you need something loud and deep and you're straight outta Low Cash, then behringer is the way to go. but if you play pretty intricate stuff and need a lot of note definition, look elsewhere. Hartke, for example.

If you really want an 8x10 keep your eyes peeled for a used Ampeg on craigs list in your area. I always see them popping up every few months for $500-700. Usually the only thing wrong is some tolex is ripped up, etc. The workingman series is not bad for the $$ and going to a Behringer is way more of a step down then a step up.
I would also recommend finding a used Ampeg 8x10. I've seen how cheap they go for used, and after hearing some Behringer stuff I would not be buying any of it. The Ampeg can handle more power, and they are pretty durable. Mine looks a little bit rough, but I know it still sounds great. Moving something that big is going to wear on it, and that tolex comes off so easily.
I don't think that you can find any other 8x10-cab (new) of any other brand in the same price brackets ...

I have a 8x10 that I bought off Craigslist for $200 in nearly new condition.
I have owned a lot of Behringer stuff and it is Good to very good.
The only issues that I have is that the durability but I abuse my Equipment and I have trased Peavey GK Etc..
I have gigged with a Behringer BX4500 and their BA 2X10 cab. And I've been lucky with it.
But having read the reviews, I decided to upgrade when I was offered $300 for the whole rig.
I suggest going to Guitar Center and check out their Acoustic bass amp line. Even Guitar Center's "generic" amp line will give you better "peace of mind" than a Behringer bass rig.
