Behringer bass head

I have the opportunity to buy a Berrigher bass head(dont know the model) for 40.00 from a drummer turned bass player back to drummer here at work. The only thing is the limiter or something wont disengage and no sound comes out of the cab when you play. This guy said its fixable. But i want to be sure because I dont want to find out later if I decide to buy it or end up with a repair bill that is what a new head would would cost. No cab with the bass, he gave that to his bro a while back.

Can any of you diagnose the problem sight unseen/unheard?

Would it be worth the price to buy it from him?

From my experience it can be very difficult getting Behringer gear repaired

$40 is pretty cheap if you think the work can get done.

It may not be worth it. The Berhinger costs about $250 new. Who knows how much it will cost to get fixed. But then, for $40, if it were me, I'd go for it. If they wanted more than $100 to fix it it'd say no thanks and just chuck it.
