Behringer Bass V-AMP Pro - Part II: Get On Back, Jack, Do It Again...

I'll double check when tonight, but I downloaded the software from the Behringer website, so I would assume it's the latest?
I think my power supply problem is solved as I did a 4-night weekend with no issues. 
On the question about phantom power, I keep the phantom power on at the main board. It doesn't bother the V-Amp.

I think it must be...this versions from the site also..I'm having same prob with
the MIDI THRU function active error message..can't respond to scanning..I've tried reversing in/out.no recognised devices..looks well complicated...have u got any further,please let me know,ok!? Eame

My biggest issue is a constant hum. I haven't been able to isolate where it is coming from. I've got a rack with a few components, and a hartke bass attack pedal. I've tried turning off ground loops, but still have it. I used just the V-Amp unit in the studio, and still had a slight hum. If I use one of the pedal effects, it makes the hum louder, a clean tone has less (but still some) buzz. It's not enough to be that bothersome, but I'd still like to eliminate it, especially for studio work.
have you tried to use the v-amp alone (out of the rack) only with the power cord, your bass and headphones plugged in?
The only place I've tried using it by itself is at the studio, but of course there's a lot of other stuff plugged in. It was supposed to be a dedicated outlet though. The headphones were studio monitors, not connected directly to the v-amp
sweet! Just snagged a v-amp bean unit with the add-on foot pedal for $55! Now I won't have to lug my whole rack in to the studio
Hey guys was hoping for a little advice, I just picked one of these up on e-bay, I actually forgot I bought until I opened the package (expected it to be a Korg minisampler).
I don't have a proper rig set up at home atm so messed around with it through a little combo. I was well impressed! Was great fun considering I paid like £50 quid for it. I then tried it through some headphones and realised there is a horrible hissing sound coming from it.
At first I thought it was my head phones so tried another set with no avail. I then tried various leads. Finally I realised that even without the instrument plugged in it's giving this hissing sound. It's not as bad but it's present, with only headphones plugged into the amp and nothing else. Also the hiss is affected depending on which effect the dial is turned to, like the effect is added to the hiss (I only mention incase this helps determine whats up.)
Again, compared to what pedals cost this will be great for fooling around with, but I was so impressed I started having some ideas for recording, maybe taking samples with the microsampler, who knows.
Anyway, this will be impossible if the hissing is a defect or something in the unit itself. I don't have an audio interface atm to even check that the hissing will be recorded. I'm not so knowledgeable in the technical aspect of these things but if the hissing is coming from both headphones and my little combo then it will be present in the mix I guess. There doesn't seem to be much info elsewhere on this hiss?! I know Behringer get a bad write up but after checking this thread kind of motivated me to try it.

If you didn't reset it, it could be that one of the distortion pedals is activated from the previous owner perhaps. I think the 2nd one is fuzz, which could be a culprit.

Another happy and proud Bass V-Amp user here, got a pod one and have been using it at home and live for about 6 years now and always got lots of compliments about my sound.
I ended up buying a used PRO a few weeks ago and I thought I should drop by to say hi and thank for the awesome guides and tips posted here. I have already been working with the pod for a while now and have already figured out most of the stuff but still its nice to find out about some of the specifics on the PRO unit.

Try reseting, a bad battery can corrupt your patch banks and put that kind of hissing and other artifacts on the sound. Event if you disable all the FX's and sims the noise might still be there unless you reset.
If it continues after the reset try using a bit of the internal noise gate to see if it helps

from this and the other couple threads floating around TB, I also just bought a vamp-pro for 100 bucks and it arrived yesterday still with all the OEM manuals and stuff, I will have the time to play with it this week and either say "it's a winner", or "it's for sale in the classifieds"

Step one, throw those away, unless you want to keep them for records or something...lol. All they will do is confuse and frustrate you. Refer to this thread, and the startup guide on Part I on how to use it, unless you have enough hair to pull half of it out and not be noticeable
I already saved all the tips in the other thread and have that printed as a reference, ya the manual looks like someone translated it from German first to Chinese then to English -- VERY confusing
And the person who originally wrote in German didn't even use the thing, they just looked at the engineers notes and took a stab in the dark as to how it worked...
before i put it in the rack im gonna pull the battery and see if it is going dead cause i have no clue how long this one was sitting in the box since that is one of the notorious pre-requisites so many people have said goes bad. it has no rack-rash so who knows if the guy even used it.

Read CharlieC's quickstart and deleted anything that the PO may have done as well as fire up his initial settings.
yep it works perfectlyv and was fairly easy to find my tone and save it as a patch, and then create a couple others that will be useful hopefully in some of our songs, but I am coming from a I-found-my-sound-and-that's-it carrear, the idea of having huge amounts of presettable tone choices is not a big deal . For me it was a weight savings and definitely a cool playtoy till the honeymoon is over.
And the negative?
The tuner is a convenient but I will continue to use my Korg DT1000 till it blows up as it kills that built in thing for accuracy and speed to pick up the note

Is there a hidden balance control so you can pan L/R manually on the 1/4's and save it on a patch?
And is the output of the DI independent-vol-adjustable or fixed and I just have not found them yet?
I like to run my 4x10 and 1x15 in some of our regular places and like to leave the poweramp controls full on like a PA, as the 1x15 needs more output from the amp to drive it to the same volume level as my 4x10 to get the stack to what I like to hear, so the line mixer comes in handy, but it would be nice to set patches accomplishing the same thing.

As there is no actual L/R balance control, you might want to explore the bi-amp capabilities of the V-AMP Pro to achieve exactly what you described (i.e. set balance levels and save along with the patch)
The XLR DI is fixed and its signal level is very hot. ( and I happily add that its sound quality is smokin'! )
