Either swap the MIDI IN and OUT wires to the V-AMP or the MIDI interface cable is defective or not being recognized by the OS. Try using the USB jacks on the back of your PC as opposed the the convenience outlets on the front of the PC.

Behringer Bass V-AMP Pro - Part II: Get On Back, Jack, Do It Again...

Either swap the MIDI IN and OUT wires to the V-AMP or the MIDI interface cable is defective or not being recognized by the OS. Try using the USB jacks on the back of your PC as opposed the the convenience outlets on the front of the PC.
Also, be sure both MIDI IN and OUT are connected (i.e. do not only connect one of them up), and if that does not work, then reverse them.
From the manual, it says it only trasmits data that it receives from the midi input. Is your midi in connected?
I've tried the midi/usb cable going in to v-amp in and out to out. Then in to v-amp out, blah blah blah...both times, both in and our were used. I followed the de-crapify .pdf that was posted by Charlie, and the midi is setup at "1" and tap=off.
The editor WILL change the sounds, but it wont "scan" my presents, and no device is found under recognized devices.

Got my V-Amp Pro yesterday and have been in tone overload through my headphones ever since! Got a killer deal from a fellow TB'er and let me tell you it looks like new - Thanks Scott!! Going to rack it up at practice tomorrow and use CharlieC's setup guide to get the ball rolling. So hear's my dilemma: Run the V-Amp into the front of my Ampeg B5R, the power amp in of the B5R or throw my Carver PM 175 back in the rack bridged 500 watts mono?? Charlie can I get a Squad number? Think this thing is going to be in the rack for a while.
Try to avoid front-of-the-amp situations and go with "power amp in" or better yet, a dedicated power amp

Thanks CharlieC! Yeah, I was looking at it more last night and brought my power amp with me to test as well. Might just use the Ampeg B5R as a backup rig. And again, great job on this! It was really helpful in chosing this pre-amp.

I have the Bass V-amp Pro and use it for bass and ,with a different pre-set, accordion. I bought it from Musician's Friend in November, 2011.
I use a Behringer EP 1500 amp and a pair of long excursion 15" Black Widows for stage sound and I use the stereo out on the DI section to go to the board.
I work 2-4 nights a week, every week.
I've really enjoyed the V-amp until last Saturday night.
During a song, it suddenly "re-set" itself!
It acted as if the power was instantaneously turned off & then back on.
After the spinning led routine, it started making sound again...on the correct pre-set.
I switched power from a strip to the wall outlet and continued on.
After a few minutes, it happened again!!
Between songs, I switched the IEC power supply cord with another.
It happened after a few more songs.
Long story short, has anyone else experienced this?
I've contacted Behringer and am awaiting a response about the warranty.
Any input is greatly appreciated!

are you absolute certain that the mains power supply is ok? did you check the socket for the fuse, it could have a bad connection?

If your V-AMP sits on top of a rumbling cabinet, you need to make sure the IEC plug is a very tight fit. You may even want to take the weight strain off of the dangling cord from the V-AMP to ensure it's not being helped-out of the socket by the rumbling.
I'm 90% sure this was the issue and the fact that the V-AMP booted-up again each time and continued to perform on the patch where it left off supports my theory.

I had the unit on my speaker box at first and I thought it might be the vibrations so I moved it to the P.A. table beside the board.
I haven't tried tweeking the IEC blades for a tighter fit.
I'll try that while waiting for Behringer to get back with me.

Please know that it is quite possible to keep the V-AMP (and other rack gear) on top of a speaker cabinet like many do. The trick is to both ensure a tight IEC connection fit, but also to take the weight strain off of the dangling cord that otherwise could work against this, causing the previous issue you described.

And I should have already mounted the amp, V-amp, and Compressor Pro XL in a travel case.
Alas, I'm a little behind
And maybe, after the warranty expires, I'll hard solder the power cord directly to the board and be done with potential problems.
