Behringer Bass V-AMP Pro

I am finding that I really need to get the foot controller. As I explore the effects more, I am finding portions of songs where a bit of flanger, or auto wah would be nice, but not for the whole song.

The Crown XLS 1000 is a killer power amp, but speaker cabinets have more to do with the perceived sound level experience

The ported Ampeg PRO NEO PN-410HLF's move lots of air

When I run my rig with 2 cabinets, 1000+ watts bridged into a 4-ohm load, my neighbors take notice

Fellow TalkBass'ers, I dare say it may be the best rig for Metal

The Behringer FCB1010 pedal comes highly recommended for use with the Bass V-AMP Pro.

I'm planning on getting a V-AMP, a QSC GX3 power amp and an Acme Low-B 1 cab. This should make for the best home practice rig ever!

I also feel this could easily be upgraded to a gigable rig.

The worship leaders at both churches I play at love the box. The simple fact of being able to set pre-amp, EQ and compression really helped my sound. The Bottom End amp sim is a wonderful amp sim, working perfectly in a worship setting. It slots me very well under the electric guitar and acoustic guitar players, above the drum set, through the 100watt Peavey head I am using.

We played a funky-ish song Sunday morning where the AutoWAH sounded quite nice, as did the Flanger. Most of the time, I've left it on Ambience.

I am so happy that I don't suffer from Equipment Snobbery. This is the best $75 I've spent on music equipment.

The only problem I see with that setup is that you will have a very dissimilar sound on stage and on the DI. Unless one of the cabinet simulations is very similar to the 410HLF

I don't see how that would make any difference. I can do all the fancy EQing and compression I want on a bass, it won't make it sound like a different bass.

If you want the tone of your cab you either have to have a cab sim that matches it or just mic the cab.

This is why when playing live when there's a soundboard and a PA that can adequately reproduce bass sound, I don't use a cab. I go direct and use a monitor.

I would like to think I am one of those "good" sound men.

But from my (admittedly limited) experience running sound, there's only so much you can do on the board.

However, in the example you state here of blending the mic'd cab and DI send I can see what you mean about reproducing your tone.

Exactly my wish but unfortunately 300€ don't get you a 200W flat Bass cabinet...

Played a gig Friday night using the Classic Clean setting suggested by CharlieC and got some good comments about the bass sound (the guy doing the sound was the band's actual bass player who can't play at the moment due to a back injury!).
Has anyone downloaded any of the user patches from the Behringer website and if so are they any good? I use a Mac editor and cannot download the patches so have no idea what they are like. Would it be useful for members of this thread to list their favourite setting for others to try?

Bass -> V-AMP -> Interface via unbalanced 1/4"-> Computer

Or should I use midi or something else?

Notes: "S1" Mode will provide mic'd cabinet simulation. I use a single 1/4" Unbalanced mono out as I do not use stereo effects or effects other than compression to justify sending both outs to the recording gear.

There are other connection options available on the V-AMP, but I've found this to be the best sounding for me when going 100% direct. If you can swing it, use a real mic on your cab and blend that with the V-AMP's XLR out/s while under operating mode "L3"

I was just going to bypass my cab entirely when recording direct, I plan on using a pretty hi-fi cab anyway.

I bought it purely to mess about with the effects as I'd only ever fiddled with a Flanger and a Chorus pedal, very briefly back when I first started playing. I wasn't interested in the Amp and Cab modelling at all, though I do use the Amp modelling almost as if it was an effect, or even the Pre-Amp part. I have it in the effects loop of my main Amp.

The only thing I don't like about it is the Tuner. I have tried the suggestion in this thread but it didn't work for me.

I hear that the tuner begins working only after you receive your member number in my "Behringer Bass V-AMP Squad"

In all seriousness, every other beloved preamp on TalkBass retails for at least twice or thrice the V-AMP's selling price and also has one reaching for an external tuner (as there are none built-in, functional or not)
