It just occurred to me that this may be the reason that the tuner is not working for you, despite your attempts using the known MASTER INPUT GAIN fix.

Ideally, your bass needs to be directly connected to the V-AMP first and then the V-AMP should feed the EFFECT RETURN jack on your main amp for the levels and signal quality to be what the TUNER is expecting to receive. You may want to try this as an option before purchasing an external tuner, at a minimum, simply to determine if there truly is an operational issue with your V-AMP.

In all seriousness, every other beloved preamp on TalkBass retails for at least twice or thrice the V-AMP's selling price and also has one reaching for an external tuner (as there are none built-in, functional or not)

Let me have a number and I shall wear it proudly!

Oddly, the most reliable and, even more surprisingly, accurate tuner I own is in an old Zoom multi-effects pedal (Guitar, not Bass version). Most of it doesn't even work anymore but the tuner part does. And it'll tune anything, I reckon I could fart into it and it'd tell me what notes I hit (hopefully not the brown note...). Just wish it fit a rack and wasn't a pedal.

Ah, good point, I haven't tried it like that since changing the input gain, it's still in the effects loop.

Check where the power cord plugs into the V-AMP. Take it out, then make sure it's a good snug fit in there again. This happens to me sometimes when I transport my rig and the power cable gets tugged when I pack and move. If problem persists, get a new AC cable from anywhere for $2 with tighter contacts in its female end.

If we're talking V-AMP PRO, the foot controller pedal uses the MIDI "IN" jack. I understand that the non PRO one comes with some type of simple foot switch. Any other type of pedal (stomp box or effect) could vary where you plug it in.

Thought about that but all the lights were light up,and the A button was flashing, like I changed a setting.

Did the factory reset, it works now.
Now if I could only get this midi thing to work out, Man I am SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO lost on that whole thing.

THe foot switch Question I had was for the FS112 selector switch.

Sorry, I can't help you with the MIDI thing as I do not use or own one myself, but I know others on this thread do and maybe they can assist?

I have this unit and i enjoying a lot.
But how can I do to change this battery? I am faccing one problem: the unit has no colume when i turn it on, so the solution now is to recall all factory presets, maybe the solution can be to change this internal battery, I don't Know...
And how to use the software mentioned by CrisAlan? Am I have to buy the Midi foot controlers?

If you fear that an expired battery may be causing issues, replace it by opening the unit and swapping the existing one. The cost for this would be under $10 USD. Afterwords, perform a Factory Reset to clear any artifacts caused by the battery issue (i.e. no volume). Instructions for a Factory Reset can be found in this thread.

A MIDI foot controller and the companion computer software are NOT required to operate the unit. Both of these tools are optional. I, myself, use neither.

I have owned a V-Amp Pro for a year now and love it. I use the midi pedal to control it at shows and it consistently draws comments about the range and color I can create. Will be watching the thread to see if I can pick up any tid bits. I saw your quickstart guide and did not realize the gain is so low by default. I will have to try boosting that up to see if the tuner responds quicker.

I do have a question. Have you ever played with trying to get a double bass sound using the modeling or even the synth doubling?

This is the midi foot controller FCB1010. The only real setup was to set the controller for the Bass V-Amp Pro config. Ref. the manual on factory reset. You have to power on with pedal 1 and 8 depressed for 2.5 seconds. After that, the pedal worked perfectly. Setting the action the pedal takes is a bit complicated but not so much that I haven't changed a few things in the middle of a gig. The only part of the pedal I haven't figured out (don't really use it, so I haven't spent much time on it) is banks 8 and 9 from the factory. They invoke the synth. I have goofed around with holding a tone and playing a solo with it, but the synth has no velocity so it is at full volume and hard to get a good mix of bass with synth. I will say the pedal opened up a ton of hidden controls only available via midi. Some of the effects have 7 or 8 parameters. All of which you can control / set or assign to pedals or one of the two expression pedals.

I will try to throw together a pdf of the steps to use some of the cool features (my fav is setting the tap delay by taping the pedal).

If there are specific questions I can try to answer them.

PS I backed up my patches via the sysex and can restore them should my battery die.

CarlieC, I see on your pic you have a crown xls 1000 drive core amp driving the cab. How do you like it? I have always been a GK RB head fan, but I have been toying with getting a stereo power amp and two 2x12 cabs to take advantage of the stereo output of the V-Amp pre. I also am a crown power amp fan but have no experience with the newer stuff (ran a sound company for years with crown macro amps all around). I am seeing 8 pounds for the 1000 and 400w per side into 4 ohms. With 12's do you think I would need the next size up?
