I bought this bass used in July 2024, but am just now posting this since the honeymoon is over. I have bought what I thought was a "dream bass" in the past, and it turned out to be a non-starter for me. So I wanted to give this bass the same treatment. On paper, it seemed to check every box for me.

Here are the specs:
35" scale
5 String
Swamp Ash Body back
Buckeye Burl Top and matching headstock
Quartersawn Maple neck
Birdseye Maple Fretboard
Bartolini Pickups with 3-band EQ
Hipshot Hardware
around 8lbs

To start, this bass was worth every penny. This is my first bass over the $2k mark, and that was even used. I could never afford one of these new, but had been keeping an eye out for a used one for over a year. When I received it, the fretboard needed a pretty hefty cleaning, and the frets needed to be polished. Once I got that done and did a setup for my liking, this bass felt like glove to me. It's a 2012 model, and whoever had it first took good care of it, but could feel some player wear on the neck. It was loved for sure.

The fit and finish is just impeccable. It is my first 19mm 5-string, and I was very nervous for that having not played before purchasing, but the neck carve is just right. Nothing feels like a stretch at all and it truly feels like it is playing itself. It is inspiring to play and is making me feel more creative. The tone is also great! I keep almost everything set on the center-detent except for a slight boost on the mid knob. It has so much punch through my GK amp! It sounds great in a mix and cuts through without being too pokey.

All in all, I am a huge proponent of these Elrick basses and will continue to love and play this one for years to come!
