My favorite bass: a Jazz with a Precision body.

Maybe one day Fender will offer that. They've done every other Jazz/Precision combo.

Until then, it's Warmoth, G&L JB-2, or something similar.

I've gotta decide on a fingerboard radius. What do you guys think? Stick with the vintage 7.25" or do something kind of in between like a 10"? I know the Sadowsky UV basses use 10", whereas the more updated vintage series uses 12". 10" seems like a nice compromise between both extremes. Any thoughts before I finalize the specs? :eyebrow:

Scott: I really like the 10" radius on my Lindsey J--still very comfortable for me down low, probably due to the narrow measurement at the nut, and feels a bit easier than a rounder profile up high, where the neck widens. Of course, I do suggest you go try some different necks over the week or two.

I've never had the opportunity to play a 10" radius. Does it still feel vintage or does it feel more modern like most of the high end jazz copy guys like Lull and Sadoswky who use a 12"? I do know that Bill Nash basses use a 10" radius and there are a couple in stock at Bass Northwest. Hopefully, I can get out there and give one a try to see for myself, that is, if this snow stops any time soon. :hmm:

I think it feels a little bit more modern or Sadowsky-esque, but not too much so. Doesn't seem like a big difference from my Precision or Stingray (7.25" and 7.5," respectively); just works well for me on the Jazz. Wish I had something more definitive for you.

Very cool. It's really something I just have to check out for myself to know what will work for me, but it's great hearing others' opinions and experiences on it!

I agree with this, I've got a 10" radius on both of my Laklands (P and J style) and it is very comfortable for me. It has a really nice feel to it, I really preferred it over the smaller radius of the Lakland DJ4 I had. I was surprised how much I noticed.

That's the 'silver' side of my '59 Ocean Turquoise Metallic P-Bass... a new color under every lighting condition.

The REASON I posted my orange-red bass was to show how Ben can 'cop a vibe'. I gave him TOTAL license to pick a color in the ORANGE family... "just make it outrageous"... HE DID! (and I love it!) He spent HOURS deciding my color!

He can do HOT ROD... yeah, go trad Fender color if you want to go that route... or go a little nutz :D

Believe me, I'll be posting pics and clips and reviews as soon as I get it! The best part is, even after all my custom expensive requests, the bass still comes out in the same ballpark as the 2010 Dlx's we were talking about. Without my expensive taste, it would've been an even better deal, and custom too! Ben seems really passionate about doing a great job and his willingness to do what he can for the customer to meet their needs is above and beyond anything I could ask for. Looking forward to igniting some gas here on the forums! :p
