Benavente Booth!!

Thanks for posting the photos Brian, I've got it fitted with the white pickguard. If I was having one custom made, all I would change would be to have the bridge PUP replaced with another Aero PUP, and run it active with a passive option (well, maybe a swamp ash body and ultralite tuners).

We could always drop a Custom JS bridge pickup in it.
Problem with Aero's is the single coil and the 60 cycle hum you get since the P doesn't throw the single coil J into phase.

The JS will give you a smoother and thicker bottom verse the Ultra Jazz that is a brighter aggresive pickup.

And for the swamp ash, well thats a new project :bassist:

As for the preamp one of these things would be the best key without having to route.......

Yeah, my 51 P is passive as well. I like having the punch of the single-coil J pickup, but it's all personal taste. :)

The chambered vortex fretless (what I call my 'jaco' bass) has the new preamp, so it can be passive when I pull out the volume control!

I've got a variety of outboard preamps (Sadowsky, Suhr, Fatboost) so I can make the passives work however I want. I love having that versatility!!

Sorry Brian you didn't get a chance to play mine...

I like the looks of that outboard stomp/preamp!!

Benavenge meets Fender circa 1966! :D I think it looks pretty killer to, but after all, I'm the guy who speced it out!!! :smug: I sold the "Benavente meets '77 Fender" to Big Joe a couple of weeks ago and he's diggin' on his big-time. I'm surprised someone hasn't snatched up the CAR VV yet, but someone will find it and give it a good home. :)

Your website reports the CAR Vintage Vortex Benavente is sold. Is that not the case?

Last I saw, the natural one was the only one sold... And as for that particular bass not being available, I can be fairly certain that it is NOT available being as that it is upstairs in my bedroom as I type this. :smug:

Groove Tools, the prices are listed on the Benavente website. Make sure you add for options. Brian at www.thelowend.net had a used demo burst V5 up for sale. He also said the wait is several months for a new one... *EDIT: I just checked his site and it's on hold. Sorry! :(

Sorry...I just realized that you asked a follow-up question aimed in my direction! Joe is the proud owner of the VV5 ash/maple bass but the CAR VV5 is still available. Not only does it look excellent, but it plays and sounds outstanding! :hyper: :D This was one of my two NAMM showcase basses and it's totally tricked out. Let me know if you have any specific questions about the bass...I'd be happy to answer them for you.
