Double Bass Bergantino HG310

Just came across this cab, it won a Bass Gear Mag best of show award at 2016 Winter NAMM.

It looks like a really intriguing cabinet - 600 watt power handling, 5.3ohms, 42hz-15khz freq. response, sealed cabinet design. I don't know how he crams 3x10" woofers and a horn into a 36lb cabinet less than 2ft tall.

I know it's a practically brand new model, but anyone get a chance to play/gig through one of these yet?

We tried to find someone to lend us an upright at the NAMM Show, so that we could try it with the HG310, but it was not to be. We did get the kind folks at Breedlove to loan us an ABG, though, and boy, howdy! The HG310 sounded fantastic with the Breedlove! And with acoustic guitar. And with a Dingwall 5-string. My expectations of how the HG310 will perform with double bass are high, indeed.

I just noticed this on the Berg website. It's only 36 pounds - *** (in a great way)!! That's 10 pounds lighter than the HDN 2x12 and only 3 lbs heavier than the HDN 2x10. Misprint? Seems impossible.

Would like to hear more about it. Also would like to see what the back looks like since the third driver is on the back.

After reading more carefully I see it's recommended for acoustic instruments. Maybe not enough low end balls for electric bass?

This cab sounds fantastic for electric bass. Plenty of low end, and plenty of punch.

Other than cost, is there any tradeoff in going to the 310 vs one of the 210 models for electric bass in a blues/rock/worship type setting?

The 310 is probably less efficient since it's not ported, but that can be solved with power which is cheap these days. But I wonder, don't the deepest chest thumping lows typically come from the port rather than directly off the cones?

The cone area to weight ratio on the 310 has got to be one of the best, if not the best, in the business.

Well, as you pint out, the HG310 has one extra driver, and it is also a 6-ohm nom. load, so most SS amps will push it a little harder than an 8-ohm cab. All in all, it probably breaks even with the HDN-210.

I like the 6 ohm load compromise, it's an interesting idea, but if the power output of the amp is rated at 4 ohms rather than 8 which is usually the case nowdays, wouldn't you actually be getting less from your amp. Just wondering? My Audiokinesis TC 112 is a 4 ohm. :)

I love the weight, form factor and rear facing driver.

Ordered one today....in black...just in time for the current production run.

I have never owned 10's or sealed cabs or Bergs before, so this is a trifecta of newness for me.

From a weight and size standpoint, the stroke of genius is to put one driver on the back. I suppose a 410 could be done in the same way and still be super light.

Acme makes a giant 2x12 cab. One driver faces forward and the other is on the back but that one weighs 60 lbs.
