As usual, I have no self-control whatsoever. I just arranged for the delivery of an HT118S from Florida. I am a sucker for anything Berg, and took a leap of faith. I have an email in to Jim asking about it and what to expect, but I figured I would see if anyone here was familiar with the cab?

the lows are great
but for a solo cabinet the highs arent clear
get this its a guilty pleasure but it will get the massive low end and that super high end especially for 6 strings

I have seen that cab...I am assuming that was from the Hollandale(sp?) Beach GC right? It was definitely at a good price, can't imagine what the shipping was though.

This is, indeed, the cab from the Florida GC. Shipped with a one year warranty. . . . $375. Now, let's just hope it works like it should, survives the cross-country trip, and is in original condition. Not a lot to ask for!

No stand-alone for this one! I wonder what it will sound like with my HT 322? HT115? Acme B2? Walkabout 15? This could get interesting!

the (original) big ben that sold me on 18"s sounded to me ready to do standalone duty. It's actually the cab that got me thinking of changing my TB screen name....

I dug up some old specs from the Bergantino site using the wayback machine:

Model HT118-S specifications:
• 1-18" cast frame woofer w/ 109oz. magnet, vented pole piece, and extremely long- throw 4" voice coil

• frequency response: 36hz - 1khz
• sensitivity: 95db • anechoic: 2.83v/1m
• impedance: 8 ohms
• dimensions: 25-1/2"H x 22-3/4"W x 18"D
• removable casters
• weight: 77lbs.
• Price: $1,100.00

By my calculations it should be about 4.8ft3 internal volume, which lines up pretty close to Eminence's "small vented subwoofer" reference design for the KiloMax 18.
