Bergantino NV158? ???

SCT1422 and I played his Streamliner 900 and ShuttleMAX 9.2 (along with a bunch of other amps) through his two prototype NV115's. They both sounded pretty darned good with those cabs. I personally preferred some other heads, but they were both very good.

I miss using my NV-115's which I loved with the Streamliner.. I picked up a CN-112 with a Shuttle 9.2 to use for a little while.. I had shoulder surgery and have to keep it light for a bit... The Mesa Walkabout and M-Pulse 600 amps I had sounded great with the NV-115's as well... There Is a few other amps I want to check out with the cabs ....

Tom,
what did you like the best?
rp

At the time, given the amps we had on hand, I really liked my WalkAbout (but again, I'd love an 800-watt version). The Titan V-12 can get awfully close, with proper EQ-ing. The GK MB Fusion 800 really kicked, as well.

Since that time, I picked up two NV115's of my own, and have played a whole bunch of other heads through them. My favorite heads, so far, have been the Fender Super Bassman 300, Jules Monique & Minnie 800D, and Orange AD200, but the WalkAbout, Titan V-12 and MB800 continue to sound great, IME/IMHO. TecAmp Puma 900 was also really, really nice.

when are you having a bass et together ? I'm in Ohio and would love to attend.

you mentioned the MB Fusion 800 and the MB800, 2 diff. heads did you mean to say the MB (Fusion) 800

I haven't had a GTG at my house in years, but through Bass Gear Magazine, I am working with our local college (Terra State Community College) on a "gear fest" of sorts next summer. This will include a big bass GTG, for sure!

And no, I mentioned both of those GK heads, because I own both and like them both with the NV115.

My "office" last Saturday night. This is a great sounding combination. Nv115 on bottom, CN112 on top.

I played a blues gig last night and took the NV215. Venue was much smaller and I could have got away with the NV115, really wish now I had had the confidence to take it. Just wanted to be safe really.

To review: my Motown/classic rock band plays at reasonable volume, and my single NV115 has no trouble keeping up (with FOH support). My rock band usually plays too loud, so even with FOH, I've paired the NV115 with one of my HS210 cabs for adequate stage volume.

That said: two weeks ago I forgot the HS210, and had to solo the NV115 with my rock band. Fortunately the house soundman told us to keep stage volume low (as low as we can with our loud drummer!) so he could keep overall volume reasonable, and (amazingly) the guitarist complied. The NV115 sounded great, with plenty of volume. So, I soloed the NV115 again at our next gig, which was in a smallish room where I knew volume wouldn't get outrageous. Even though both gigs were less loud than normal (for that band), I was putting some juice into the NV115. It sounds nice when opened up, and while the bottom remained tight, it didn't sound mushy, and I got enough lows from my five string bass tuned a half-step flat.

As discussed in the Berg Club thread, the NV cabs won't give fundamentals down low on the B string, but the 2nd harmonics come through just fine, so my bass does NOT disappear even when I play modern rock that stays below low E.

The NV610 is still my all time #1 cab for rock, but I love having the smaller/lighter NV115 for when I don't need the NV610.

yeah, Fuzz, I know what you and KJung have been saying about NV115 and fivers. I don't really have a bone to pick about that, seeing as I play 95% of the time with fours only, and my one 5 is a 5 in 4's clothing (strung BEAD).

But for the 95%, for the music I am playing, that rig is "just right".

KJ and I mostly agree. KJ recommended against using a single NV115 with 5 string, but I explained just above how well one worked for me as a stage rig, even with detuned fiver on modern rock that stays down low on the B.

Again, it's all about how much fundamental (1st harmonic) you want down low. Whether NV115, NV610, NV412, or SVT810, I don't mind the gradual roll off as you approach low B (again, it's only the fundamental, not the remaining overtones). But one person's "tight/controlled" low end can be "weak/anemic" to another, so I understand why some love Acme and other cabs that can reproduce the brown note in its entirety. :ninja:

Anybody tried one or a pair of these with a DB750/751? I suspect this would be a great pairing. Based on my *brief* demo of the NV115, I'd guess it would add some upper-mid articulation and nicely control the Aggie's low end.

We tried this briefly when Steve stopped by my house. Very nice pairing. It does handle the lows very well, and the upper mids are also a bit more open than with the NV215 (though I might like just a hair more with the DB750).

Having just added an Orange AD200 back into the collection, I have to say that that the combination with the NV115 is quite jaw dropping for such a small speaker. After initially enjoying the NV115/Fender100T combination I began to find limitations (for the situations I was in) as the 100T would go into power tube overdrive too soon. When I used the Super Bassman 300 the problem did not arise and the sound was great - tight, deep and punchy. The Orange AD200 is similar, plus the old tube sound of the AD200 with its warm bottom really does complement the Berg nicely.

Love, love, love the AD200 with my NV115's! :bassist: :bassist: :bassist:
