Best 15” speaker

You have 800W of power handling. All else being equal, to gain a 3db increase, generally considered to be the minimum audible, you'd need to go up to 1600W. Typically, though, higher power handling drivers tend to be less sensitive (less volume per watt) , so you'd actually need to go up to rather more than that. Then you also have to rebuild your cabinets to tune them for different drivers, at which point they'd be almost valueless. Wouldn't it be more practical to sell these cabs and find something that better matches your needs?
How about the
Eminence Kappa Pro 15LF-2 Bass Speaker (600 Watts, 15") at 8 ohms?

People can spend their money however they want, and if experimenting with speaker/cab combinations is the sinkhole into which one wishes to pour his money, he has every right to do that.

That said, the above quotes are all one really needs to know IMO.

Oh man he had Cletron woofers? There was a robbery....no wait.

No worries plenty of 'growers' in MO even back then....and bootleg whiskey...we had it made.
There's a government( "Delta 9" store) or private run weed shop on every fricken corner in Canada now. Somehow it took some of the fun out of ducking the cops ... squad cars in front are buying now on their lunch breaks rather than busting people. lol

yeah. I got nothing better to do than to wind up bass experts. You got me. People: we’re not saving babies here. We’re playing bass. I am dreadfully sorry for wasting your time with such an offensive question. Please, I’m begging, let it burn out. I look forward to reading all of the amazing help you bestow upon other curious types. Rest assured: I now know how much you know and how little I know. Does that make you happy? Goodbye, fellow musicians.
Is there some reason you are not answering the questions that people are asking to try and help you with your project and instead using your energy posting these comments?

Never mind I see this is old.

Still my commentary is this. I enjoyed hanging with older, knowledgeable people in my youth. That is how I learned about sound, recording, lighting, playing music. Basically everything in life. I don't know where I'd be in life if I didn't.

:)

The best for what?
What kind of music?
What kind of amp used?
These things need to be known before anyone can speculate on what speaker to suggest.

:)
It's not my question, but now I am interested in this thread. I play blues rock (early Led Zep, Band of Gypsys, Humble Pie, early Jeff Beck, you get the picture), what do you suggest? I am not into the modern "clean" sound or the high treble and midrange sound. I am interested in your suggestions. Thanks! -Bill

If you want to build something, find the plans for this, Sunn 200S bottom or similar.

Or buy one if you need a vintage look, Sunn 200S bottom.

If it doesn't have to "look" vintage it would be this hands down, of course IMOHO...

I hear you. I’ve been playing through an Ampeg cabinet. I’m fine. Could someone just recommended a speaker? I appreciate that none of you think this is a good idea. Be that as it may, can someone answer the initial question?
IMO, it’s had to beat a Peavey Black Widow. With magnet they’re heavy as heck, but they deliver about all the goods
