When you're playing through the monitors at home, how loud are you turning up? The problem you run into at low SPL is that your ears are very insensitive at such low frequencies. Add the tendency of the 2nd harmonic to dominate the fundamental and the roll-off of even studio monitors like yours and you'll be struggling to truly hear the fundamental - though you may feel it somewhat and you'll also hear the reduced THD leaving the overtones less obscured.
Our Big Series cabs roll off slightly lower than the fEarful but are still way down at 25Hz. Despite that they sound amazing with low F#, in a completely different universe to the cabs you first listed.
When I have some time I'm going to do some more careful analysis of all this 50Hz and down pitches, where the energy is, what you hear and what matters, and write an article or two about it.

There is a region above the tuning frequency of a cabinet where excursion is higher (it's been referred to as the saddle, can't remember who!).
You can see this by looking at an excursion plot in Winisd or the like.
When you tune a box to 30.87hz, the saddle will center just above 50hz. Bad times for an F# tuner.
Move the tuning up to 40hz and you'll drastically increase your power handling at 50-60hz at the expense of some around 70-80hz.
This mostly comes into play when you're pushing cabs hard and using a high pass filter as you ought to, to get rid of the sub-sub lows.
* In the case of an Acme cab, you could very probably experience distortion at higher volumes even with a high pass filter properly applied, because your power demands at 50hz are quite a bit higher than they would be with a higher tuning and an HPF for the stuff where the cab unloads.

No they don't. Maybe with some of their neo loaded cabs they might do a little better than the ceramic loaded cabs, but full range 15"s don't have near the Xmax of a speaker like the 3015lf.

Sure you can hear it - even if your speakers can't put out the fundamental, the harmonics go up many many octaves. It's only a few semitones lower than a piano and nowhere near some of those old pipe organs with 64' pipesl. That said, I don't crack out an F# (23Hz) very often - the real power of F# tuning is the accesibility you get to lower notes even when you are halfway up the fretboard. A .200 gague low F# string on a 35" neck is surprisingly punchy to the 12th fret and beyond.
