Fender Jazz 24 at Musician's Friend for $499 looks cool to me.

That is a pretty good deal. Not that I'd ever use the extra frets, but I guess it would make the other higher frets more accessible.

new, the yamaha BB414/BB614 and the Ibanez ATK's are good basses.

Also, the Squier Classic Vibe series are phenomenal for the cash.

The Yamaha BB series are way to heavy for me. But I love the Yamaha brand! I think Squier is making the best basses for their price niche.

An ATK is a definite condenda! I'd go T-40 but I respect my back muscles.

I totally understand! I love my T-20 but it's like a boat anchor around your neck!!
