Just picked up a Genz Benz Focus 410 on Thursday, putting it through the paces this weekend. So far it's handling everything just fine. Tight and focused, no prob handling some volume.
the FCS410 is a fantastic cab, especially at the price!

I want a Fearful 4x10.
My favorite cabs are EV loaded 2x15's but my favorite 4x10 cab of the ones I've owned and gigged with over many, many years is the Mesa Powerhouse.
would that be a vertical orientation? Or could you retain the 2x2 configuration since the mids will have their own drivers?I want a Fearful 4x10.
I am planning to downsize from a ampeg 810 to.
I use a Svt cl.
Options: mesa ph 410 4 ohms or two mesa ph 2x10 8 ohms each in order to get the 4 ohms.
I´ve been told that the amepg 410 hlf it´s too bummy. I play in a metal band kind of Mastodon, High on Fire, Entombed. Plenty drive.
Any thoughts? Suggestions?
Best is subjective; I think, and, defined by what works very well for you.
Quality is more objective, and can come in different shapes, sizes and forms, many of which might or might not work well for you.
Cool, now you're wrong too. The guy said that you won't find a 410 that could "truly" handle 600 watts; the Genz Benz Uber 410 is rated at 1000 and is designed specifically to take the power of such Genz heads as the Shuttle 9.0, which is rated at 900 watts.
Now, we'll take your approach and say that Genz are lying about the specs of the cab, so they become moot. The head is still rated at 900 watts, and there are many testimonials out there of people cranking the Uber 410 with the Shuttle (gigs, rehearsals, etc), and not having any issues with the cab. Now, we'll again take your approach and say that Genz are lying about the specs of the head. Even if that head's true power was only 2/3 of what Genz say it is, that's still 600 watts and the 410 can still handle it comfortably.
You've gotta remember, you're not taking into account cabinet characteristics. Most modern 410's are ported, so you can get extra low end without having to drive as much of it from the speakers, and can instead get more of that power applied to more mid-range frequencies. You'll be beating your head against another crowd now, the one that says speaker size doesn't necessarily affect tone at all. They would argue that a well-enough designed speaker, no matter what size (within some reason of course), can do what you claimed a 10" can't. With some of the technology available in the speaker world now, I dare say they may be right.
In addition to that, my experience with the SWR Goliath just out and out proves you wrong. It's rated at 800 watts and still takes my 900 watt head just fine. Yea yea, I know, my head isn't "truly" 900 watts, but the guy said that a 410 can't take a 600 watt head. That's just outright crap, sorry. My cab is bassy as hell too (I actually have the bass rolled back a fair bit), so low frequency response/handling certainly doesn't seem to be an issue.
I'm a science guy too, but sometimes numbers don't explain reality, even when it comes to man-made technology. And sometimes, you're just not as right as you think you are![]()
