Understood the difference between round core and round wound, just apparently misunderstood the default manufacturing technique.Make sure you aren't getting confused between Round Wound and Round Core. Like stated, most strings you will find in a store are going to be hex core. I have found it much harder to find round cores when I want them. Ernie Balls, D'Addarios, Dunlops, a lot of the Dean Markleys, etc, hex core.
