Best amp for Hofner

Recently bought a hofner club bass 500/2.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to what bass amp would suit?

No Way in this world! Hofner + VOX AC30B = McCartney. Followed by a VOX T60 then VOX AC100.

Obviously your going for that Old School tone. I'd be looking for something with tubes in it and a cabinet with a 15" speaker or a couple of 12's. Back in the 60's I ran my Hofner through a Bassman with two 212 cabinets with Electrovoice SRO's in them. It sounded real good.

Any amp is good with a Hofner. It's the same as any other bass...just get an amp that you like and the bass will take care of itself.

+1 on the VOX. Not because you want to imitate someone, because you want a particular sound.

If you wanted low-end punch/power, or hifi clarity, or something else that isn't easily obtainable from a Hofner, you wouldn't be playing a Hofner in the first place.

Scott, have you actually played a Hofner? If you did, you would know that it's almost all low end punch. And with a slight mid boost, you can get plenty of clarity out of them.

An AC30 would last about 5 min running a bass , especially if its loaded with those 15 watt celestions.....

I vote for any of the Fender Bassman's Only cuz that's all I have expierience with. I had a Bassman in 1969 and a Hofner. I've been trying to duplicate that sound since.

I've had a 500/1 for years, and have used it with Fender, Hartke, and Carvin, but the Carvin is my favorite by far.

The great thing about Hofner basses is that they sound great through almost anything. I notch down the midrange in one place, but that's it.

My Hof sounds great through a Traynor YBA-3 w/ Big B bottom.

Scott, have you actually played a Hofner? If you did, you would know that it's almost all low end punch. And with a slight mid boost, you can get plenty of clarity out of them.

No doubt! My Hofner copy sounds huge. It's a low end monster.
