BEST AMP UNDER $300???

If you're playing fairly loud alternative rock you'll want at least a 1x15 preferably a 4x10 with 200+ watts. Depends how loud your band is though. That Ampeg 2x10 or the 1x15 could be enough, they can get quite loud. I think one of them is tiltback which would be handy as well.

edit: just saw this was for practice, is that by yourself at home or with a band?

mmbongo...i was actually wanting that one for a while, i play rock/alternative..you think that amp will do my practicing some justice?

I'll find out for sure today when the brown truck arrives :)

But everything I've read says that the Warwick combos are modern/progressive sounding so I think they are right up your alley. The 12" will make a big difference as well, a 10" might not cut it.

Hey man my vote for a great amp head is the 400 watter Behringer head. A friend of mine has had one for like the past 4 years and its still kicking. I think they're like $225 or something like that. Are you looking for a combo or bass head/cab???

Only $40 dollars more than your budget (check out the sale price) and 600W! Plenty of power to run another cab if you decide to go bigger later. But even by itself it should blow away the others you mentioned. Plus, if you don't like it you can SEND IT BACK! Woohoo!
