Best Amps. What Do You Think?

...which is WAAAY misleading. For example, many folks believe Ampeg's SVTIII to be a small step from utter crap, while their all tube Classic model is widely accepted as excellent. Same with most other brands. It's like saying that Ford is the best when looking for a stylish 4 door, when your looking at the Fusion, but most other folks are thinking your refering to the Focus. :hmm:

After reading your first post, I took a wild guess that you were 13 years old. I was only off by two. Don't get me wrong, your enthusiasm is commendable, but in addition to the point made above by Mr. Smith, you migh want to define "best" first so that there is at least a common ground to base the results.

My first priority would be first on reliability, second on tone, third on value, fourth on power compared to weight that I need to lug around, and fifth on customer service, which wouldn't really be a factor at all if reliability was such that I never had to find out.

Unless everyone else's priority is exactly the same as mine, which it likely isn't, I don't find your question and thread particularly usefull. That said, I'm sure it will meander along anyway for at least a few more pages.

I created this thread to make a simple poll for a project in my music theory class. I completely agree and understand what your saying as well a Mr. Smith. I'm just out to get a General Poll result of the overall preferred bass amp. As a bass player I thought this would be a good place to accomplish my task (I'm not saying i made a bad choice choosing this site, I'm glad i chose this site.)Thanks for your suggestion and I'll deffinently keep them in mind. As well I will also take your advice and look over and edit my orginal post.

Why don't you create a poll so that it does the counting for you? Select the poll option when creating a new thread; you may be able to add it to this thread by editing it.

And Ampeg will win because it's the most famous, not necessarily the best. Most people haven't had the pleasure of testing all of the brands listed above so they'll choose what they do know.

Oh, and you missed Euphonic Audio, Eden, Tecamp, Ashdown, Acoustic, Trace Elliot, Traynor, Orange, Fender, Marshall, HiWatt, Roland, Line6, Tech21... and probably loads more if you want to be thorough, you're looking at a long list!
