best bang for the $...

Somebody here (only one!) mentioned Eden!! +1! A scaled-down version (perfect for starting out) would be a WT-550 and a 4 ohm D210XLT!!

This setup would cost you $1700 from Zzounds and you'd have a smoking rig with room to spare. Add another D210XLT later to round it out. You can squeeze 620 Watts RMS with 2 4 ohm cabs with this head.

+1. I suggest Eden too, but I suggest an Eden Metro combo and either a D410XLT or a D210XLT cab. I know nataku was wanting to move away from combos to a half stack, but IMO the Metro ain't no wussy of a combo amp. And it can be either a half stack or a full stack. I'm thinking this would be a real no-hassle setup, and it will get louder than you'd ever need. I've been watching Eden stuff on ebay and the above mentioned combo and cabs are on sale there often, it wouldn't be hard to get a setup like this from ebay for under $2000.00.

I still say go with the Kustom/Avatar rig. By far the most bang for the buck and it suits your style. You can get the head for +/- $500 plus +/- $30 shipping and a 4 ohm Avatar 2x12 for $279 plus $42 shipping. That brings the total to $851 shipped to your door!!! A KICK ASS *new* rig (all with warranties) for about $850! Hell, you don't even have to buy a speaker cable as the Kustom head even comes with a really nice, heavy duty Neutrik Speakon cable (10 ft) and a footwitch and cable (mute and solo functions). The cable the Kustom came with is MUCH better than the Monster Neutrik I bought for my other cab and that cable cost me $40. What are you waiting for????

ive been doing a lot of research based on all the suggestions you guys have given me, and it seems like the best deal so far is the kustom/avatar rig. im confused about that cab that you guys said was coming out later this summer. is it something i should wait for?

aite sweet, its pretty much decided then. i just need to wait for my parents to help me get a car (they already said they'd be pissed if i got more bass gear when i should be helping pay for a car) but that should be within the next week or so. then after the rig im gonna need a new bass to go with it... :bawl:

The Kustom is good for people on a budget, but if you have $2000 ready, I think you can do better...

im still gonna go out and play a bunch of amps and crap, its not 100% decided yet. i have about $2000 i can spend, but if i did, i wouldnt have any $ left for a new bass. plus, if the kustom is more than good enough to ge the job done, and a few hundred $'s cheaper than other heads, i might as well go with that one.

If you can, check out a Traynor YBA-200 too, its only $600 and its 200 watts all tube.

If only I had $2000 to spend that would be nice. But I totally agree with Quadzilla and I found a place to get a new Kustom Groove Bass 1200 head for $469 shipped match that with the Avatar Kappa pro 4x10 4ohm $370 + 55 shipping under $1000.... Blood running out of my ears...... Priceless :hyper: And I will have some money left over for effects SWEET

That's exactly the way I looked @ it....high quality pro gear and $ left over for additional gear! Trust me, people will be shocked how little you paid for a great sounding rig!
