Best bass amp brand?

Hi, I just want to ask a easy question. Which is or which are the best bass amp brands to play reggae and ska? And which is the best bass brand? I have a Music Man bass and a Hartke amp but I don't know if it is a good combination.

I think Steavens is a much better guitar amp than marshall. :)
I'd also have Soldano or Bogner before resorting to Marshall.

Bassamps...
I like Glockenklang and Merlin(musician sounddesign used to make that), a head that unfortunately is no longer in production.
It is GREAT though.
Rheingold is also tempting, I think, but really heavy.

You should be playing Behringer amps, and Rogue basses. :woot:


Actually those are both crap.


There is no "best".

There is nothing much out there new with a warranty better than the Reeves 225 or 400.
The Reeves 225 costs $100.00 more than a new SVT Heritage and weighs 59 pounds not 80+

The amp is whisper quiet, ideal for recording and way plenty loud enough for clubs or larger venues using IEMs.

The day I pulled the trigger on my 225, I could have bought the cleanest, minty beautiful '72 Blue Line SVT for the same price.
59 pounds, I can do, 80+ would put me in the hospital.

The Reeves is all hand wired, built one at a time to order in Ohio.
No cooling fan, no hiss, no hum like so many other amps out there.

Most important, my vintage basses shine through with their own natural voice.

They are built with meticulous detail, turret board construction, based on the Hiwatt DR-201 circuit, but EQ'd for bass.

My 225 in now 5 years old. Flawless!

There's a reason you still see so many vintage Hiwatts in use today.

Built like a tank and rock solid reliable.

My opinion is not based on "Best Cheapest" "Best Lightweight" "Best Play & Toss, Disposable Consumer Grade Electronics"
After 30 + years of trying to find an amp that did not suck, that did not make me miss my vintage SVT, that did not make me anticipate failure.
The cost didn't matter, all I cared about was build quality and tone.

I made no compromise and have no regrets whatsoever.

There is a Yeti. I saw him in a McDonalds yesterday in Aberdeen, Washington. He was getting a salad. From McDonalds. I didn't know he was a vegetarian, and I didn't know he was dumb enough to get a salad from McDonalds. But, I know he exists, because I saw him. Unfortunately, my cell phone wasn't with me, otherwise I could post a really blurry picture of him paying for his salad.

My father was born in Aberdeen WA.
Of course that was back in 1919
