I have some experience with three, the M80, Microbass II and the Tonehammer. The Tonehammer is the keeper for me, I haven't done a lot of recording with it yet but its great for gigging and tone sculpting. The M80 had a bit too dark a colour for my taste but I like the simpicity and the build, the Microbass seems a bit strange in the design of the channels but the sound was pretty good and the headphones-out is great, I really wish the TH had it. The Tonehammer is clean when disengaged but the AGS can be difficult to tame, especially with hot pickups.

I own a U5, JDI, radial prodi, and j48, for my p basses I always grab the JDI, studio or live, it sounds just like the bass and I've never run into a problem with headroom on that like I have with the prodi, for active basses and acoustic guitars with onboard pre's I use the U5 for recording and J48 live. I never liked what the active di's did in unloading the passive basses, some strange midrange and sub low action that tames what I love about the way the p's sit in the mix. used countryman's for several years, traded it for the JDI after one gig plugging into a sound guys. for most gigs I've had in the last year using just electric bass I haven't even bothered bringing an amp, and the sound has been unbeatable, sounds exactly like my bass in the house and on stage.

How about the Radial J48? It is an active DI, but I have heard that it is excellent for both active and passive basses. Can't speak from experience, though...

Got my eye on that. Anthony Jackson mention somewhere here that he liked that one alot. Maybe not worded like that but he did mention that paerticular DI as being very good. With his ears its got to be good.

I am a big fan of this pedal. If you like the sound of your bass and want to make small tweaks it is hard to beat imho. That is for the bypass and clean channels. The distortion channel is fun to mess around with and can double as a scooped channel.

It is as quiet as my Shuttle's DI with a level between a mic and line when bypassed.

Any thoughts on the Hartke Bass Attack? Or is it a crap pedal in your opinion? I tried one out last weekend and I liked the Shape knob amd the Harmonics knob. It's pretty hard to get anything but the Hartke, the MXR, or the Behringer BassDI here so I might need to chooae from those.
