Best Bass for Bar Fights?

I've only been punched twice on stage. Both were by women. Best days of my life.
I had an inexpensive P/J that I used as an emergency backup in case something went sideways with my main bass, and also to wield as a defensive weapon in the rare and unexpected situation that called for such action. Think that's wrong? Think it never happens? I played at a place called the Cadillac Bar in Hoboken, NJ about 20 years ago and had with me my gorgeous 1972 Jazz Bass. Between sets two drunken Jersey Shore type muscle-heads decided to see whose dealer sold the stronger steroids and started throwing punches like rookie hockey players...right in front of my 72 Jazz. I sprinted through the crowd, as much as such a thing is possible, to rescue the bass before one of the morons threw the other into it. Of course the crowd is moving in all directions, including into the band area to try to stay out of the fray. Fortunately, nothing happened to my gear, but from that point on I always carried along a cheap spare to use in order to persuade any prospective combatants to avoid the stage area for those times when testosterone and Jagermeister made for a bad night.

I'm thinking that the Squier Vintage Modified Precision TB that I used to own would have been a real contender. It had a heavy slab body, and was not super expensive. Oh, and it was a decent sounding bass.
Had I thought of this I likely would not have sold it.

If the job is so dangerous that you might need a weapon, you should probably skip the gig.
I've never been punched, but once a drunk woman came up and slurred, "no more sad songs." about 5 songs later we played Heartbreak Hotel and she came up and threw a drink in my face. We laughed about that for years.
Way back when I learned to position my 6x10 with 6 space rack on top of it about 2ft away from the wall whenever possible. Made for great shelter during bar brawls. I only had to use it once. The best offense is a good defense!

I saw the bassist for Black Flag slam a guy in the head with the butt end during a slam dance scrum. The Fender shrugged it off....pfft.

I'm a firm believer that no bass should be used as a weapon in a bar gig wether it's an expensive or beater bass,I have to much respect for my axes and try to take the best care of them,that's why this is always in my gig bag...

One of these. Heavy mahogany body. Baseball bat shaped neck, for a good grip. Can dish out a beating and keep on rocking.

Oh yeah, and you can also remove the control cavity plate and use it as you would a throwing star. Solid 1970s brass.
