P Bass loaded with Duncan spb-1 pickups, like the Harris model; don't forget the flats.
J Bass loaded with vintage Fender pickups like the Geddy Lee model.
Or take a look at my bass collection which does it for a poor man willing to do pickup switch on an MN4 P and luck into Johnson by AXL J copies loaded with passive EMG blades.
Now… if you Really want to know the best bass for metal…
