+1 on Amt. I have the "bass" version and really like it.

Had a Chi Wah Wah for about a week and couldn't sell it fast enough. Didn't like the sound or set-up at all (weirdly sweeps is reverse of most wah pedals), sucks some of your sound and (personally) I don't care for the spring style as I like to use a wah as a notch filter/tone control.

Amt Japanese Girl is probably smallest wah out there, very well made, very responsive and even though it clicks when you activate it I find that if you step on it a little softer instead of really stomping on it the click is less noticeable. Really liking this one.

I'll be happy to add to the confusion. :D

I've probably owned close to 10 different wah pedals... original Crybaby, bass Crybaby, Bad Horsie, Morley Classic, Vox, Buddha Bass Wah... I'm certain there were at least a few more.

Some were certainly better than others... but the wah I currently have is the best one I've ever had.

It's the EBS Stanley Clarke signature.

I have no idea how much Stanley really had to do with this thing... but his name is on it and it's expensive.

With that said, it has some really cool features... it has a "true bypass/wah" function or a "wah/volume" function, which I use a lot. It also has a different settings for different wah flavors.

One of them acts a lot like an envelope filter, similar to the Dunlop 105Q, another one is more like a standard guitar wah pedal, and then one of the other settings is a "wah/boost" to give you a little balls when you need it.

It also has adjustable width and range settings for your sweep and the amount of regular bass tone you want blended in with the signal.

Like I said... it's pricey... it also takes up a lot of real estate and is a bit heavy... but it's a very cool pedal with a ton of usable features.

This is very true. I can't afford a Wilson and the weeping demon looked sweet, but I came up on a Dunlop 105Q that I'm really diggin. If it weren't for doing research and this thread I would have never went for it. I didn't think the 105 would perform the way I wanted but it is a great wah IMO.

So I had my 105q first in my chain since I got it last week. I was just thinking and asked someone here on TB where they put theirs and they suggested towards the end. So I placed it third to last and wow, what a difference! It will actually sweep dist and OD now. Everything sounds a lot better going through the wah as opposed to the wah going through everything. So much better.

Had it both ways. I found my ideal way in between fuzz and OD. Fuzz - 105Q - OD

Tall Font Russian feeds it awesome ammount of harmonics for beautiul sweeps while Darkglass VMT dirties it up and gives it a bit of edge.

If you check the polls, you'll find some people prefer wah before dirt and some prefer wah after dirt. For instance, Juan Alderete uses his wah always before dirt.
I found you really need to crank the volume to notice sweeps when going wah before dirt. Still, I much prefer my "sandwitched" way.

Manually sweeping the mid eq on an old Tascam 244 4 track. I've never found anything that worked or sounded quite like it, pure magic. If someone put that in a pedal I'd buy it.

If we expand the definition to include auto-wahs and envelope filters then the Chunk Systems Octavius is my current favorite but the old standby MXR Auto Q has a good sound.

I have a dimebag wah i randomly tried after having a 105q for years and never really fully loving it. While its definitely not the stanley clark, it does have some interesting settings that sound pleasurable on the od and fuzz. worth trying on a rig that is similar to yours. and they are pretty cheap used.

my fav wah was the Dunlop 105Q until I got a EHX HOG.

The HOG has both a wah and filter expression mode. The wah mode is a bit thin next to the 105Q but can polyphonically pitch-shift while you wah. The filter mode is VERY powerful (one of a million reasons I run a limiter at the end of my chain!)

I really am enjoying and using the 105q you traded me fabe. It's great! I'm really diggin the sweeps and tone I'm getting. I'm sure there's better bass wahs out there but this will def do for now. I haven't tried a whole bunch of bass wahs but of the ones I've tried, I like my 105q. I tried a bad Horsie Morley and didn't like it much. But that double wah seems sweet.
