And yes... he was eliminated really fast, Jaco was just eliminated recently.
Victor Wooten was somebody who came immediately to my mind when I saw the thread (part 2). I did go back to the original thread and read it for awhile - the original list is fascinating, and then, occasionally (it's like the stock market) there's some kind of upswelling of voting against someone. So down went Wooten and Paul McCartney, not to mention Sting. Strangely, Jaco held on in a very high place until quite recently.
What's emerging is a more esoteric list - most people I know have only heard of Mingus, Jones and Entwhistle. Bass afficionados of course know all of them, and right now, there's a pretty good mix of styles represented. I'm still surprised that JPJ fell so far, so hard, but he was up there so long, I just don't feel personally compelled to vote him up again.
