Edison is awesome. So is the Germ Warfare by Electrofoods. They go in small batches so aren’t always easy to find. Germ Warfare is a germanium boost. It can get a little dirty. It has switches for mid and low boosts, and a control for grit and control for treble.

Mosky MM Silver - absolute steal for the money. Doesn't colour your tone, retains the low end and gives you your sound but just more of it.

I have the jhs prestige which is great. Colors it a little.

I also have the mark bass boost.

But the best one I’ve used is BY FAR the Vertex Boost. IMO- it boosts my signal while maintaining my tone most accurately.

I did a TB search looking for boost pedal recommendations and found a few scattered threads here over the years ... I was hoping to get updated recommendations with all the new pedals out there today, especially for bassists.

Can anyone suggest a boost pedal that doesn't cause low end loss and really adds some "oomph" when triggered?

I'm using a Boss GEB-7 as a boost pedal, mostly because I didna want a clicky thing. Gotta be real piss-drunk to miss that footswitch and you have all those sliders to play with....

EDIT: I keep the EQ flat, only use the level slider.

I ended up buying the Xotic RC bass boost pedal AND the TC mini spark .... Both seem to be very highly regarded.

as far as one knob boosters go, i really like xotic's EP boost a lot.

Lightning Boy Audio's Thunder Knob with a 12AU7 tube instead of a 12AX7 is a nice option. You get loads of gain on tap, no highs/lows loss as far as i can tell, - even if i hear something like a very slight HPF - plus high-voltage tube awesomeness. It's a quiet unit too, with round and clean tone, and you get some breakup with the Thunder switch on. The more you dig in, the more you get. It's an always on pedal for me, i use it for this extra tube-clarity with my clean-tone, but also for adding some gain to my fuzz, or get throaty overdriven tones with my LBA's Nuvision.

Sweet pedal.

What reminds me to mention the Tube Works Blue Tube, and the just as cool Real Tube overdrives...

I use 'em in the bedio and used to use 'em live, but the 120v. is kinda inconvenient. But mebbe worth it ...

Since starting this thread, I ended up buying the Xotic RC Bass Booster and the TC Spark mini ....

I've only been able to try out the Xotic so far but I am VERY IMPRESSED with it. I used it at full band rehearsal the other night and after tweaking the settings right where I wanted them, the pedal did exactly what I hoped it would.

Now the problem is turning it off .... Once that beautiful boost kicks in, it's tough to go back to "pre-boost"

I'll try the TC at the next band jam and review the 2 against each other.

It's just so good, and so cool! I have two of this pedal's predecessor (the tiny, non-switchable Oscar preamp) and can't part with any of them.

Yeah, my preferred boost is always on. I can stack three of them if I want to get ridiculous, haha!

I've tried a few and I'll put in a recommendation for the Solidgoldfx BC239. I think they got it just right.

You probably want some eq in addition to boost, otherwise just turning the volume up on your amp would do what you want.

I used a simple boss geb-7 for years in a blues band when the guitar solos where on. Worked awesome
