Plenty of 10" and 12" drivers have response that extends well into the frequency range in which pattern narrowing and beaming occurs. Dispersion is definitely relevant.

In this case the moving mass stays steady and the cone material "thickness" becomes way to big just to emerge (any kinds of) partial cone resonance. It makes no sense to try to consider dispersion at mids were there was no more of mids because the cone then was too heavy to emerge mids.
Kinda paradox at its best cause for any other things beeing equal 10"s are more bassier than 15"s

Many common 10" and 12" speakers used in bass guitar cabinets have usable response that extends into the 4-5K region. Surely dispersion is factor that should be considered if you want consistent sound as you move around the stage.

As far as the no-brainer thing, if it's simply based on a generic opinion of a 12 then yeah, two twelves might be better, But suppose the 1-12 actually sounded better? Until you try them you'll never really know.
I’m not just starting out, I’m not a pro either but I’ve had my fair share of events. Some small, some big.Some good advice on your replies. One other thing, if you are just starting out don't assume that what sounds good in your bedroom will hack it in a band situation - those big fat lows might just muddy up the mix. Most times punchy mids are your friends. BTW, Italy, you have to go Mark bass no?

Any other things beening equal except for driver size which in this case is reduced downwards to about 10" (which also effects the number for Vas). The new normalized response looks like the following chart, note that f3 equals about 52Hz.

That's a very impressing outcome cause in case of any other things beeing equal except driver size a smaller driver diameter corresponds to an extended low end response.
Of course there is a big trade off pending, the smaller driver diameter sucks on efficience which can be clearly noticed with the following chart yellow 12" versus 10" white. Note that all of any other things show equal numbers.
