Best cab?

I've been playing with my 810 Ampeg for over a year and it's just impossible to move anywhere other than my garage. I'm looking at downsizing to something else but I'm not sure what to get. I'll keep SVT Classic head with whatever I get, so I'm looking for something that sounds good with that.
I play in a rock band with 2 guitars, drums, and vocals so I need to be able to cut through the mix enough to be heard easily.

Any suggestions? Apparently Markbass isn't the way to go?

IMHO with that head, and the volume needs you are talking about, I would take a serious look at some of the Greenboy designs. The "Dually" is a updated look at the 215 cab. Improved power handling, drastically lowered weight (60 pounds or less depending on materials), and you are still using two full range drivers. If you are looking for something more outrageous than that, the fEARful 1515/66 is a monster that gets 810 cabs stuck in its teeth. Here is a pic of mine and my review.

There are also some other great offerings from other cab manufacturers, I would also take a good look at Barefaced's site. There is a lot of great information there, as well as some killer products if you want to ship from the UK.

I'll have a good look at those, thanks :)

Best = Very Subjective.....

Are you looking to stay w/ a sealed cab?

Haha I know, that's why I tried to give all the details about what it's for. I think I'll stick with sealed..
Do you know which of the markbass cabs would best suit my sound? (my sound being like the classic sort of ampeg sound)

What amps and cabs are the guitarist using and what size venues are you playing? You might not need as big a cab as you think. I keep up with 2 guitarists (and drums) just fine with a single 1x12 (an excellent Markbass cab BTW), but they are both using 100w single speaker valve combos.

Build/buy a 66 and you're done for life... make sure you get the rub rails on the back and its a delight to move compared to an 8x10.

Also there is a fEARful "15/6 tube" designed extra-wide if that aesthetic is important... these can be built in mirror imaged baffle pairs for stacking with the mids lined up vertically.

I went from using and svt 810 cab to a swr 1 15 cab about a year ago and it is great, i pick it up off the floor with a box or amp case and it is enough volume for me, it can even fill a small bar on its own with out pa. I use a p bass and six string basses, sounds good with both.

+1 on going smaller.

If that is what the OP is interested in, there is also the "Bassic" on one of my previous links. They are available in 4 Ohms I believe so one or two of them would work with his SVT. I think one of the builders recently did one in composite that came out at 22 pounds. Two of those would be super easy to schlep, and would be more cab than anyone reasonable needs. Also I have seen talk that the round ports on the Dually and Bassic can be easily plugged with removable port plugs to go from a sealed to ported feel, although the low end is supposed to be tight for a ported cab.

I would seriously consider the 2x12 version of that same very cab (1212/6/1). It would cover any gig that I play and with the pullout handle and wheels, would be a breeze to move. It’s a beautifully designed cab!
The 2x15 version, IMO, is a bit too much for the gigs I play. Even the big clubs around me limit my stage volume and I just like the tone of 12” drivers. Pushing 12” speakers with a bit a overdrive and extra low mids gets me that in-your-face tone that I like. I’m playing through two quality 12” cabs now but I have to lug them around or strap them on a dolly, which can be a problem since they can slide off.

My only concern is I wouldnt want to balance a head with the weight and footprint of SVT on a 1212/6. If you leave it on the floor then no prob. There are some great 8 Ohm options out there, but they dont jive as well with the impedance desires of the SVT either.

I’m sorry, I missed the part where the dimensions of the head where compared to the dimensions of the 1212/6/1. The pictures I’ve seen of the 1212/6/1 show the drivers not exactly vertical so the cab itself has to be around 18-20 inches wide (guess). But if your used to the big sound and footprint of a 810, then the 1515/6/1 should still be a lot easier to move!
