Best cable for the money???

I am planning to spend about $50 on a new cable and would just like to get some advice about the best cable for the money. I used Monster bass cables for years, but will not be using them anymore and not really sure about other brands.

If anyone could give me some advice I would really appreciate it.

I've got about a dozen or so Monsters. That said, if you want the best bang for your buck, I'd give serious consideration to Whirlwind Leader cables. THAT SAID, I've slowly been replacing my Monsters with Audiophile brand cables. Other great cables to give serious consideration to include Bayou.
Please, nobody kill me, but I found that I do like Lava speaker cable.

You couldn't pay me to use a monster product. It's about ethics.

For me, the only cables I use anymore are ordered from www.greatcables.us
They use good quality parts and charge a fair price for the professionally soldered/assembled products. Top that with it being a family business run by some real nice people that are also musicians (and TB members).

I just sold my three Planet Waves cables. I found the jacks, with that weird expanding section, would not always fit into my amp's input. Imagine you pull out your chord, insert in tuner and then find the jack won't go back in the amp... while the rest of the band is waiting! Once was a surprise. Twice? They are outta here.

I started using monster cable's switched to planet wave cables had two go bad on me went back to monster cable only cost me 7 buck,s after my first planet wave's cable price of about 36 buck's, i also use the coiled bullet cables very nice,life time limited.

Name brand best bang for buck? Elixir.

If you can find a cheap set of snapjacks that's probably the best product going...if you plug/unplug/swap instruments on stage.

If you can find a deal on Evidence Audio cable that's among the best quality cable going.

Phil Jones also makes great cables...

...but FWIW there's going to be some good discussion/content about name brand vs. custom cables.

If you want bang for buck high end (mid-high end) name brand, go for elixirs. They push mids just a bit more than a few other cables (so I've been told by the staff at Lauzon Music in Ottawa Ontario(Canada) (after they spent hours and hours testing cables on various instruments and amps to make sure they knew what they were selling/talking about))

I've never had any issues with the LiveWire (Guitar Center) cables - not sure if they still sell them, but they're affordable (picked up two 20' cables a while back for about $10 each) and have been so far (three or 4 years) dependable.

I wouldn't pay for a monster cable unless it was at a 90% discount. To me, anything Monster makes is a total rip-off.

i'm in the same boat.

i've played for 8 years now and used lots of cables. some cheap, some medium quality.

quality difference is no question at these levels, every cheap cord i've ever had has no lasted very long. the solder connections are poop, cord makes all kinds of noise.

i have a "roadhog" cable right now that has lasted about 3 years. it's finally starting to crackle. id say this cable was medium quality, i never had a problem with it until about now. no warranty so i have to buy a new one.

no idea what to get though

Hah, guess I just like plain old black. Gottta love how thin the mogamis are. Never had noise issues with them to boot. I would go for a nice yellow though. Oh well.
Sticky as hell now though, all beer spillage will do that =\

I like colours too, I have my cables made out of purple Canare stock and orange end wraps.

NO ONE is gonna try to snag my cables while packing up... mine are pretty unique.
