carbon copy is really great for bass. Has a nice analog sound without getting too mushy like some analog delays do on bass.

Best Delay for Bass

I currently own a Dispatch Master and love it! Repainted it, which tells a lot about how much I like it. I flip pedals really fast.
The other long standing delay I've had is the MXR Carbon Copy. It really is a great analog delay.
The Dispatch Master is digital, and I have it 50/50 blended with my clean signal.
The Carbon Copy is analog, and gets really warm at high settings.
If you don't know exactly what you want, a Carbon Copy or Dispatch Master are good places to start.

I LOVE my old DOD Digital delay DFX9. For being digital ots preety warm and analogue sounding. It great. CAn do anything from slapback to reveb to crazy feedbacking delay. Has two internal trim pots but unfortunaletly the repeat pot needs to be repaired and is off my board at the momnt. I also have the Hardwire DL8 Delay/Looper. Great pedal. It has like 7 different delays on it including a looper from analogue to slap to a modualted delay. It has a switch on the inside you can trun the tail off and on with. Very good delay. I would like to grab a TC Nova Repeater, they look awesome. I recently picked up a Zoom 70CDR and ALL the delays on that are very useful and pretty awesome!
I posted in this thread almost 3 years ago and a I've changed a few things. Got rid of everything I said and now use 3 delays that all offer something.
1) Roland RE-20 Space Echo: originally got rid of this because of the bypass (the LED noise sucked) but after getting rid of an El Capistan to get this one back and finding a way around the LED issue (needs isolated power supply and my custom MSLP noise supressor makes it DEAD quiet. Lots of very warm tape-like delays, tap-tempo, delay, reverb, delay and reverb, and overall the only thing that sounds like this is an OG RE-201.
2) custom MSLP delay/reverb/looper: just looking at the delay and its a beast! Has up to 1 sec of delay time, 3 different subdivisions, modulation controls, tap-tempo, feedback takeoff switch and amazing warm tone (very analog-like). Have Mark make one for you and youll be very pleased.
3) EHX Cathedral: this replaced my Boss RV-3 as it has everything the Boss has but loads more and better quality. The echo mode has up to 2sec, tap-tempo, has a tone control for HPF and LPF (can get very dark or very tape-like), can add reverb mix, can do 100% wet, can self-oscillate very nicely for a digi-dealy and that's not including the 7 quality and amazing reverbs on there. Oh and it can save presets!
So if youre looking for a good tape-sim: RE-20, analog sim with modulation and all the works: MSLP delay, digi-dealy with lots of control and intuitive design: EHX Cathedral

Do it! It's worth it esp if you get the soft-switch mod (makes the tap-tempo ultra smooth).
The plate reverb alone is worth the price of admission, it just sounds what a plate reverb sounds like (no digi-sounding crap even though its digital) The 24-bit convertors make a world of difference.

opened it up and jostled some caps around on the repeat pot and it worked. It'll probably go out on me eventually again but it works for now. I'm happy.Are you talking about the Flashback X4? Because I am wondering about that pedal. I really want a Strymon Timeline but its sooo expensive, and the X4 will still be a midi slave to my drum machine. Any experience with this?
He's talking about the regular Flashback. I had it, great pedal and tones but no tap tempo was not acceptable to me. The x4 is huge and sounds great IMO but I have no idea how good its MIDI features are. You best check out the threads all over the net, there are plenty.
Initially I was going to go the tap tempo route on the new pedal board im devising, but it started getting ridiculous when i was asking loopmaster to make a 6-way tap tempo pedal, and i didn't even know if what i was thinking would work. Thanks for the info on the X4 tho. I've never done the whole midi thing, but i figure why not try it out.
The X4 has a tap tempo along with presets and a looper.
But it has no modulation control, and the Toneprint editor is more of a pita than anything really, to me at least.
I know X4 has some quirks, I read about presets being deleted etc. Maybe they got a new firmware that fixed it.
It's really bulky, sooo goddam bulky
Still, it's definitely a great delay pedal.
