Best easy to use compressor?

This was my first thought when I was reading your post. Do you have the "dirt" totally dialed out of the PnP already?

I've got that dialed all the way down, but I believe it only affects the sound when the dirt switch (rat circuit) is switched on; which is horrible with a bass…

I play in a worship band and currently use a JHS Pulp N Peel as my compressor. I like it, but it adds a little grittiness that I would rather not be added from the compressor. I have found that if any pedals have too many knobs/switches I have trouble picking a setting, get frustrated, and look for something else.

I wish I could go somewhere and try several side by side, but it's hard to find somewhere that keeps a ton of bass pedals in stock.

What would you guys/gals suggest for me?

Doesn't get easier than Spectra Comp .

The P'nP should be fine for easy compression.
As others said, trying to troubleshoot things within the Pn'P makes sense before you go into the rabbit hole of getting something different.
Dumb question...Is the grit present with the Pn'P on bypass?
Based on the V4 (4 knobs version) make sure you have the dirt switched off and/or the right side pot turned down all the way.
If it still sounds gritty, there's a chance you may have dialed too much comp...try dialing the comp knob back to noon or lower, you can monitor the compressed sound by dialing out the clean signal using the blend knob...then blend to taste.

I love my Darkglass Hyper luminal compressor. It is literally three in one. I literally set them all once and now just flip between one or two. It is always on and is very gentle with no grit.

Source Audio Atlas. The factory preset on the bass mode are well thought off. Even though these pedals are a tweaker's delight (with the editor software ), the 6 presets are plenty. I only used the editor to update the firmware but it was already the latest. And I use 2 of the presets only. Even if you messed with the knob positions, on power up it will remember the last settings

Most dyna / Ross style comps will be relatively simple. I think MXR has a dynacomp too.

You want one that has some kind of indicator showing how much it is compressing, which a lot of the cheapies lack. If I was in the market for a new compressor I would probably get a EBS MultiComp.

Another vote for Keeley Bassist! Getting a lot of love in this thread. I also didn't want a super complicated pedal and this works like a champ. Bought it here on TB, it was my first purchase here but not my last. You guys give me GAS!

I've been using the same EBS compressor for the last 15 years week in and week out. I have also tried the Mark Bass Compressore and I like it a lot as well.
