I have tried to use the distortion on it, but every time I do I'm just overwhelmed.... it's like it just way to much for the thing to handle (and yes, I have taken off the back and lowered it, but I don't think all the way). "Best" Envelope filter for bass?

Just did a search and all I found was your previous thread about it... can you spare some details on this mod?? I've always said that the Haztron III+ was bad ass. It really is the Rodney Dangerfield of filters. I need to get one.
BTW, the Source BEF Pro is outstanding. I just received mine....took all but 5 minutes to figure out since the architecture is practically the same as the Soundblox unit.

Yup! I like my Enigma. I agree with the poster who said it's a bit "fidgety", tho. I'm seriously considering trying out the IE xerograph for this reason, and for a different flavor, as well (not ditching the enigma, tho)... I'm really close to biting on that xero. If I buy it, I'm also considering pulling the independent wah pedal off my board and just going xero+expression for funky envelopeness, synthy LPF and wah-like behavior. Can it be done without too much fidgeting on the stage, at low-light situations? How easy is it to setup for live use? What do you guys think?
Analogman did mine for $50 + $10 for shipping. He put it on the right side of the pedal near the top. The whole thing, including shipping both ways, only took a week. It's best to use it along with the blend knob, and with BP or HP, to make it less overwhelming. You can get some cool sounds in LP, too. I'll try to post some pics of the mod later; it's worth every penny!
By far the best I've played are the Mu-tron III and the Tru-tron 3x, in that order. They're amazing but expensive. Best I've owned are the MXR and the EHX Qtron but I wasn't happy with those in the end. I also had an EHX bass micro synth and i used the filter sweep quite a bit. It can sweep in both directions and with the volume swell there's some cool sounds with that unit. But you won't get that funky quack, bubble and pop like good envelope pedals. I've played around a little with a friend's Source Audio filter and if you want endless controllability and unique sounds it's good. Probably also worth trying the 3leaf as they make great pedals but I haven't tried their filter.
