Best Female Singing Voice

My vote goes to Karen Carpenter, hands down. If there were a female angel, she would sing like Karen.

Your vote goes to .... ?
I cannot disagree with any of the artists put forth on this thread but I would like to introduce a rather unknown candidate. Saw her years ago in a club in Cleveland Heights, Ohio. Tish Hinajosa. the song is 'Closer Still'

I had been going back to listen to some Rickie Lee Jones and Maria Muldaur--couple of singers with a jazz sensibility who use their voices in interesting ways like another instrument--playing with the timing and phrasing.

Rickie's albums, (particularly 'Traffic From Paradise') have long been a favorites in our house and yes, Maria is another great voice.

Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah Vaughan, Aretha Franklin, Chaka Khan, Anita Baker, Cassandra Wilson, Pat Benatar, Linda Ronstadt, Adele, Nina Simone, Annie Lennox, Angelique Kidjo, Miriam Mkeba, Alice Russel, Ceu, Zahara, Umm Kulthum, Celia Cruz, Edith Piaf . so many others
