Best Gear Purchase in 2017

My SVT-2 PRO (top) and PR-410HLF (bottom). I have never been happier with my sound. Also new EMG JAX’s

Definitely my Mesa Boogie D800 head with two 15" cabs. Plenty of power, tonal range, and the head is 6 lbs and each cab is 37 lbs so no back breaking hauling. Leave one at practice, one at home and use both as needed at performances. Roadies love them.

Hello everyone. Every year I throw up a thread like this. 2o17 will be no different.
I'm wondering what your best bass gear purchase was this year and why. It can be new or used, amp or bass or accessories, expensive or cheap, whatever you bought that floated your boat!

I'll start! I bought this: http://www.musiciansfriend.com/accessories/markbass-bass-keeper-strap. It was my best purchase because it is reliable, it saved me space on the gig and in the car. Mind you, it's not something you can use for everything but because I use a MB, it worked good for me.

And you? What was your best purchase and why?

Happy New Year!

John
I bought a new Carvin 2x10 cab at first I didn't like it then I put more power to it it wasn't happy with 200 W but much happier at 350 ! It really seemed to bloom with more power and I only paid 179 For it close out .and yeah I know they're out of business I still got a bargain.

No instruments or primary gear this year.

My best purchase of 2017: A collapsible wagon. Next to my Lasko air mover/fan, this is the most useful and practical piece of equipment I have purchased in a long time.

For me....it was the Rupert Basswitch...love the versatility, quality of the preamp...pretty much everything....no regrets...2018: most probably will get me the Whappo Grande 21" subwoofer (powered) for my AER Amp Two
Pretty f++++ng please make a video and put up a link if you get that Accugroove Whappo Grande!!!!! I've got 2 Whappo's, the Jr. and the Whappo. I cannot play anything else as everything else sucks. Literally! I challenge anyone to find a better tone than an Accugroove El Whappo! I tried and failed:( But always on the search for one.

I would say it's a toss up between bass and amp. I went through a few amps this year, but eventually (in Dec) came back to Aguilar with this DB751. I also, as a side bar, bought back this Epifani UL3-310 cab from the person I sold it to back in May or June. As for bass, my Sadowsky 24 build was finally completed and worth the wait. It's everything I hoped it would be, WL neck, soaps, chambered Alder body, Amazon Rosewood board and under 7 1/2 pounds. Plays like a dream and there's a wide range of sounds that can be had.View attachment 2862825 View attachment 2862829

The real shocker for me in 2017 was getting a 2014 Gibson Thunderbird. Not for everyone, but for me it’s been a real treat. I like it so much, I bought a 2002 as well, just before the new year...

I also found a great deal on a Gamma P bass. Like it so much, I sold my US Fender

Also got a funky Warmoth/parts bass to mess around with, which led me to discover the Nordstrand Bigman pickup. Amazing pickup!

Also, got a Traynor yba 200-2. Neat amp for what it is!

I did a lot of shopping this year and love to bargain hunt for basses and pedals. My top purchase is a 1973 Yamaha SA-75 in mint condition and waiting on my Thomastic flats to arrive for her. I also bought a G&L m2000 tribute .. that kicks ass. A Fender Jazz 24 deluxe for real cheap and have turned it into a killer player with a Noll pre and Delano pups, bad ass bridge .. neck refinished in nitro and body rebuffed into showroom shape. My bass GAS continues and am looking for a Kramer DMZ 6000.. one of my bucket list basses.
