Best Gear Purchase in 2017

This 1985 Alembic Distillate Custom fretless in quilted bubinga, like new, from the original owner.

(as seen with its birdseye maple 5-string fretless sister here...)

Best used was the '71 Ric. I was sweating it after dropping so much cash, but it gets me the sound I've wanted for over 25 years and really wasn't all that pricey compared to an unmodded version of the same bass. Best new was the Epiphone Thunderbird Vintage Pro. Seems anything that used to bother me about Thunderbirds was fixed when they designed (replicated) that version.

Hello everyone. Every year I throw up a thread like this. 2o17 will be no different.

I'm wondering what your best bass gear purchase was this year and why. It can be new or used, amp or bass or accessories, expensive or cheap, whatever you bought that floated your boat!

I'll start! I bought this: http://www.musiciansfriend.com/accessories/markbass-bass-keeper-strap. It was my best purchase because it is reliable, it saved me space on the gig and in the car. Mind you, it's not something you can use for everything but because I use a MB, it worked good for me.

And you? What was your best purchase and why?

Happy New Year!

John
If I just said one it would be the bass. But let’s make it interesting.

Bass wise

My modded Warwick thumb NT6 with Delanos and Audere. It’s a really playable and versatile bass. All the range I need for my solo music or my modern rock band.

Pedal wise my Darkglass electronics Alpha Omega. I honestly didn’t see anything replacing my b7k ultra but I was wrong. Been really digging this pedal for my main drive tone. I probably have it on 60% of the live set. It’s really only off when I’m using fuzz or a clean tone.

Rig wise the Avalon u5. Switching from what I was using to Avalon u5 did a few things. Gave me the ability to get a cleaner modern clean tone and Dramatically increased clarity which really allows the characteristics of a good bass to shine.

I went a bit overboard this year...Kiesel V59k, Fender Bassman 100T, Fender 410 Neo, Quilter Bass Block 800, Aguilar SL410x and the entire pedalboard. Not much else to get in 2018 lol.
