I use a Gator Transit Series gig bag and I like it a lot. They’re around 100 euros here, so probably under 100 dollars in the US.

This. A titch over $100, but with the occasional coupon code, it's a bargain. Have one for my DeArmond semi hollow and it's about 80% a mono for 50% the price. Will fit most basses that aren't pointy. The Roadrunner goes on sale frequently for less than $100, comes in three different colors and provides fantastic neck support and hard side gig bag support with ample storage in the front.
I have several for bass and a couple of guitar versions that I bought for my headless basses. They’re an amazing value for the cost.

If you’re willing to spend more than 100 bucks go for the Protec Contego, it’s a fantastic padded gig bag for about $150.
I have one of these and I really like it. It's a tight fit, which is part of what I like about it. That means my bass doesn't shift around a lot inside. There is some removable padding to make extra space. I haven't had any issues, but I can imagine some larger basses may have trouble fitting comfortably.Sweetwater has the Gator Transit for $109 right now.
