Double Bass Best Gigging Cabinet

I have 2 Markbass 604 cabs at 33 lbs each and one gets the job done. Love them.

GR Bass AT110. So light, that it’s a blast having unsuspecting band members lift it for the first time and notice their surprise. Compact too. Sounds great, although my Barefaced Super Midget takes the cake. Then again, the GR leaves the house more…

That’s a great endorsement for a cabinet that has appeared in several threads. I think we have reached the point where smaller neodymium speakers in light weight wooden (Okume) bass cabinets just can’t get any lighter. GR works with something entirely different to build bass cabinets. Flyte Sound made a run at this years ago,
but the materials just weren’t ready yet.

My favorite (and newest) cab is a RevSound RS112. 22 lbs, compact, and perfectly voiced for DB. I used a Genzler BA10-2 for a while (had a pair, actually) and didnt like the pair of them as much as I like the RS112. I also owned (and regretted that I sold) a RevSound 28 that weighed 18 lb - I used that for several years with a Magellan 800 and an Eminence EUB in a bluegrass band.

Here's a link: RS112 | RevSound

I like my RevSound 48VT - I'd recommend looking at their cabinets.

I like the 48VT as it has little wheels and a handle on the side to have different carry options. Pretty light for such a tall enclosure.

I'm sure you could find a 1x10 or 2x10 in the classifieds that would work well with the AI amp (which I also use).

That and the 28V are two cabinets I’d like to see in person some day.

Over the years, I've had several 2x8 cabinets. SWR Baby Blue Extension, Flite Sound, EA VL 208. My MAS 4x5.5 is a far superior cabinet sonically and volume wise. I regret that
I never got to try one of Mikes 2x8's. I've played through a 4x6 and it's exceptional, but for some reason quite a bit larger than my 4x5.5. The increased air flow and volume must be the reason. Everyone
has fiddled with 2x8's at one time or another Peavy, TC Electronics,Trace Elliot, Aguilar (Jack Cassidy), Ampeg, SWR, Euphonic Audio, Accugrove, et. al. Those cabinets seem to be the first to go in their lines.
I'd love to hear the Rev Sound for sure, but I'm pretty happy with what I have. .

I fear this thread is going to cost me money I don't need to spend as I already have a Barefaced Super Midget. The RevSound 28 sounds very good even through the camera mic on the video. I've also been tempted by the GR110 and PJB C4. I hear so many good things about the MAS cabs but unfortunately never see them in the UK.
I still have my old SWR Baby Blue 2x8 cab in the amp graveyard in my cellar. I was going to replace or recone the speakers but picking it up reminded me how heavy it is for its size.

In my opinion it depends on the desired goal..if you want the „most natural sound of your instrument, only louder“ I would go for a cabinet with small speakers as the mentionend 2x8 or something like this… if you want „higher volume and pressure“, I would consider bigger speakers. I love my Invalid Link Removed because of the sound, the wright, the building quality and so on. If it‘s getting louder, I combine the cabinet with a 15 Hevos.
