I bought a Monster Bass cable, and an Elixir cable at the same time to see if I could tell a difference between them. I told the guitar shop that if I was not satisfied with either of these 2 cables, I would exchange them both for the Mogami cable. Both of these cables combined are about the cost of 1 Mogami.
I heard great things about the Monster Cables, and always wanted to try one. However, I never knew that Elixir guitar strings even manufactured guitar cables. I must admit, I was quite impressed after finding out that Elixir's parent company, Gore, is the leading provider of high signal fidelity cables for the computer and aerospace industries. This, combined with what the sales assocoate recommended, made me want to give Elixir a try.
To say the least, I am quite impressed with the Elixir cable considerably more than the Monster Cable. It does not tangle up as easily, the tonal performance surpasses the Monster Bass cable (less static), and the Elixir end has a shoulder at the base of the jack that allows it to fit more secure in the amp & bass input.
Please do not get me wrong. I do like the quality of the Monster cable, and it is a great product, but I prefer the Elixir.
