Best "Light" power amp for bass rig

I use a pre-amp/power amp combination into either a single or double 15" bass cabinet. Loving the sound I'm getting but hate the weight of the power amp which is a Crown K1 in bridged mono setting. It weighs almost 35lbs & is killing my old back. I used to use a Crown Microtech 2400 which also sounded great but was even heavier.

I tried one of the new Crown XTI power amps & it did not compare with the K1. The thinkness went out of the tone with the new Crown.

Is there any better "light" power amps (preferably bridgeable) that can compete with the K1?

which xti did you try? i'm currently using an xti2000 bridged mono at 4 ohms for 2K watts with my UA 6176 into a whappo jr and couldn't be happier with it.

i've compared it to some of my old heavy power amps (Urei 6500 which is 98lbs! and a Crown CE1000) and the xti2000 easily sounds just as good.

I've got a 1000W (modded to be mono) Carver PM-2.0t. The thing weighs a ton, and has a noisy fan. Would love to swap it out for something lighter.

Funny enough, now that I think about it, I also turned 40 a couple months ago. :scowl:

I think it's the same weight as the WorldPower 2.1.

It's a nice light Class D poweramp. I own one but it is being relegated to one of my backup systems. Its replacement is on its way here an HD2000. Also Class D. I never bridge my stereo amplifiers - I simply don't see the need. One 4Ω cabinet per side, parallel mono 500W per cabinet.

I have the crown xls 1000, 1100w bridged at 4ohms. Weighs about eight pounds? I'm guessing. 249 on sale at GC, pretty impressive. I just wished the high pass filter would go lower than 50hz. Not sure if I need it lower, but would like to have a little more range. Also, I can run it with just my Zoom B3, so, I think the sensitivity might be lower than what it's rated for at 1.4.
