Excellent! And.. IF you 'mess up'.. don't bother to "replay the note(s).." (that will simply bring more attention to it.) "Keep a neutral face when mistakes happen" ..

"You're the only one who knows you messed up." and its corollary "Just because you think you played a horrible show doesn't mean the audience does too." and its corollary "Don't make excuses before or after you play."

Anyway, I think I read way back that Les Claypool recomended watching TV while practicing to keep your eyes of the fretboard and develop a good feel for it. Worked for me and, now I can play the old Inspector Gadget cartoon theme song.
Boris Kozlov from the Mingus Big Band told me that after all of the scales woodshed, and playing the same song for the 1000th time, at the end of practice, play something that reminds me why I picked up the bass in the first place.

Miles Davis: Something about space being as important as notes. Of course he didn't give me the advice, but I think of those comments and think about dynamics more than playing a million 16th notes and nailing everyline like a machine.
