BEST (NEW) BASS UNDER $300

Wise choice methinks. Great price and Yamaha makes a great instrument, and the fact that you can return it to any GC is a nice bit of peace of mind.

Thanks man I am pumped... hopefully it’s in great condition as they say because I saved like $120 by getting it used and it was the only color I wanted, the black one, because I have this thing with bodies matching the headstock (unless the headstock is maple), so black was mentally my only option lol

Hello! First time poster here. I'm sure this topic has been beat to death, but I wanted to go straight to the best source of info I could think of... I've seen many lists on pages I've otherwise never heard of, so who knows what their real motives are for listing the basses that they've chosen. My only criteria here is that the bass be new, NOT used, and also $300 max. I've bought used basses in the past that ended up having issues and I just want a clean slate, so to speak. The more people that contribute to this list, the easier it is to narrow down my choices, which in turn could help people here that may be in the same predicament... thanks in advance!

I have a number of basses Lakland 5's , G&L L2000 1981, Peavey,s but I am really digging my LPB Squier VM P Bass 4, It's light, sounds good, plays great and I don't care if it gets busted up or stolen at a gig, bought it from GC for $249. I noticed the exact same bass on e-bay as a second or blemish yesterday for $229 shipped.You should give them a try

Yeah like all of the new Yamaha BB line have black headstocks, no matter the color... I don’t know why but it just bothers me to have any other body color than black. Lol

I've played some pretty sweet guitars for under $300 used.

My main guitar is an Alvarez fat strat copy that I got for $75 and it is 95% as good as any guitar I've ever owned and that includes a Jackson Soloist and a Kramer Stagemaster. And I'd say the Alvarez has more personality than either of those.

Actually, most of the guitars I currently own were bought for less than $300. Some aren't consistently outstanding, but if you stick with the chosen ones, there are some great guitars out there. The MIJ Squiers and some of the MIK Squiers.

Heck, even the Squier '51s are respectable. I feel the need to change the bridge pickup though. LOTS of good sounds in that little guitar. Mine hold tune great.

These days a guy could easily build a decent collection with each guitar being under $300.

i should add as a side note that i have been leaning towards one of the new Peavey Milestone basses... there's not much info on them on the internet, but what i have read is very good and Peavey is known for being a good "bang for your buck"... can anyone chime in on these in particular?

I’d be more apt to look at older USA-made Peavey Fury or Foundation, but you want new, so I’d rule Peavey out.

+1 for the Ibanez Talman series. The tmb30 and tmb100 are both well under $300. Tmb30 is short scale, though.

Save up another $50 and you can get a new SR300, $50 above that and you can get a new 370e either fretted or fretless.
