Best Noise Gate?

I'm running a rig similar to Royal Blood with a bass chain and a guitar chain. A noise gate on the guitar chain is an absolute must. I've tried the MXR Smart Gate and the Boss NS-2 to meh effect. I ended up with the Electro-Harmonix Silencer and I love it! I also tossed the NS-2 onto my bass chain just to knock down a little hum between songs and it does a good job of that.

I've never heard a noise gate in pedal format that I could stomach (though admittedly I stopped checking them out years ago for that reason, so I guess it's possible some very recent products are tolerable?)...the problem to my ear is that they all wind up calling attention to the noise that's present when you're playing! iow I think it's easier to get your brain to subconsciously ignore steady-state noise, but if that same noise disappears whenever you stop playing, you become more aware of its reappearance when you start playing again.

So if I needed a "noise eliminator" I wouldn't get a simple gate; instead I'd get something like the Behringer SNR-2000 that combines a very gentle downward expander (similar to a noise gate, but less steep/less quick action) with a dynamic sliding low-pass filter (so it's like slowly rolling off the hi treble with a tone control whenever -- but only when -- there's no material being played that has frequency content in that register).

My house is noisy and some of my basses have single coils, so I use an EHX Silencer, which has a loop.

The input comes from my tuner pedal and the output goes to the amp. Everything else is in the loop.

It's easy to dial in so that it's not "too quiet" when closed, and doesn't close so quickly as to be noticeable. It's easy enough to set that I don't get cranky when my kid comes over and messes with all the knobs.
